Assuming Star and Marco have to be at least friends moving forward, seeing how they're both still the main characters, one or some of the following options need to happen.

>Marco breaks up with Jackie but stays friends with Star
>Jackie breaks up with Marco and Marco stays friends with Star
>Marco and Jackie stay together

Now if anyone has ever confessed to a girl or vice versa, where one person didn't feel the same, then it makes the whole thing awkward. And I doubt this show will showcase that for a long time. Which means:

Ok season three is 100% going to be finding the Final Solution to the Toffee Problem but I genuinely feel the most logical place for the show to go after that is treating the actual institution of Mewnian monarchy as the main villain, with at least some direct conflict between Star and her Parents.

The show is far too consistent with showing how shitty it is both to the people(monsters) and for the Queens themselves.

I wouldn't mind half darkness either really. She's always so sweet and upbeat and everything good with the world, seeing her get moody and depressed for a few episodes before being reminded of herself would make for a decent arc. Dont' usually say that because it's handled poorly for the most part in almost every other medium, but this show has its shit nailed down pretty tight.

To be fair though she already makes them more than a little uncomfy, if only because of how strong she is and how advanced her powers seem to be(Baby episode, that one where she has to unlock her closet without her wand and her mom nearly shit herself, season 1 finale where she blasts that magical crystal when she got pissed, some other examples I can't think of right now.)

Being even half darkness would send everyone into full blown panic mode and it would be delicious. Marco reminding her(with his sexy abdomens probably) of how she was and what makes her Star 'fuck that power of darkness bullshit' Butterfly who she is would be extremely cute/sappy/adorable.
