Does anyone care about the rebellion stuff for rebels? Like, Star wars is usually Crime/Mysticism/War, represented by Han, Luke, and Leia, but the part I've always found the least interesting is the rebellions stuff, mainly because Star Wars politics are always either ludicrously rudimentary, or stupidly complex. In Rebels, all I really want is development of the Jedi stuff, development for the main cast, and fun Criminal hijinks. So, watching the Prequel movies and The Clone Wars has led me to some observations and questions.

Evidence pointing to Palpatine as the Sith Lord:

The characters were nothing except for the robot and Donnie Yen. They just shot a bunch of random shit and made a movie from the scraps. Vader scene in his castle was unnecessary, Vader scene at the end could have been done a lot better. Middle planet where Mads was could have been merged into Scarif with little or no story cuts except for angry spaniards boring assassination plotlines. These plotlines were boring(to me) because we get only the shortest explanation for his motivation for them, and 0 for the motivation of his boss, who is just an asshole I guess, we don't get any resolution on who he is, what part in the rebellion he plays, why he's such an extremist, and why, as an extremist, he wants Saw Guerrera, another extremist, dead.

Oh and the fleet battle at the end is so overrated its ridiculous, they just all warp in and fly at each other until they decide to leave. LOGH has more complex space batles, and its just a bunch of rectangles and triangles flying back and forth until one of the sides is dead.

That's basically canon from a certain point of view. Midichloreans are still a part of the force but it's like if magic were real and people tried to analyze the magical residue in a wizard's wand. All but three of the samurai die to save the village from the bandits. I was worried after the first book that Aftermath would just end up being a standard adventure story starring literally whos, which would be a shitty way to start the post-ROTJ canon. But I'm actually really pumped to have these characters pop up again (preferably under another writer).

I wonder how much they had planned for Rae Sloane when she showed up in A New Dawn. Her arc has been pretty great so far.

This is an example where I wasn't crazy about it, but I can see what they were doing. I thought having Krennic emasculated by Tarkin and then Vader, within like 40 minutes of each other mind, removed any sense of threat that he could have had and then we get to the end of the movie and he's just weenie with a pistol who gets cucked by Tarkin again. I've heard some describe this as a strength, and that the villain of the movie is just generally The Empire, and I suppose looking at it with that lens, its funny to see Krennic flounder in the bureaucracy.

There has been way more Clone War content than actual ST content since TFA came out.

Balance wise, it's probably about 75% OT-Era content, 15% PT-Era content, and 10% ST-Era content.

TFA was an appeal of nostalgia, so anybody who enjoyed the OT as a kid, be them 20, 30, or 50 now, should have been TFA's demographic.

But I hate TFA. It's just not what I want in Star Wars at all. JJ is a hack.

The acting is bad. Even with this general's bizarre position on the Prequels I don't think anyone can deny that. Most of the cast is underacting some cringeworthy dialogue. Sheev is great, you can't stop Mcdiarmid.

Attack of The Clones is trash though. I'm not sure theres a single good thing in that movie. Some of the arena scene maybe?

Most of the movie is good. The worst parts are the Anakin/Padme scenes on Naboo, and even then the waterfalls one is fine.

It was a good movie but as far as adding to the lore of Star Wars it was shit. It has good dialogue, good action, good effects, etc but the actual story was sort of shitty compared to the other movies. The original trilogy felt like you took a classic children's/young adult novel from the 1800s like Wizard of Oz and adapted it to film. The prequels felt like if you adapted a Roman myth with historical aspects showing how Rome became an empire. TFA felt like an action movie like The Terminator. It didn't help that the director is already one of those Hollywood big wigs who huffs his own farts or that during the production they constantly said 'we're not like those CGI prequels REAL SETS' meanwhile having more CGI than the prequels even for completely unnecessary things like having Kylo Ren's mask he CGI in some scenes.

Also I sort of get the feeling that you're baiting since you're acting like people hate it for being new when it's a common criticism that the movie wasn't new enough what with the "HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY GUUUUYYYYYS THIS WAS IN THE OLD MOVIES! LOOOOOOOOOOOK! ITS THIS THING FROM THE OLD MOVIES!' scenes. Especially coming off Rogue One which was very new and loved by everyone in these threads.
