Their "plan" was "sit here and wait for the Genocide Chicken to possess this teenage girl and everything will be fine". It didn't inspire much confidence. The Avengers' plan to take the teenage girl off-planet just in case shit goes wrong was much more rational.

You know what's the #1 reason WHY Scott and the X-books are so fucking disjointed in its narrative within Marvel? The X-Office treating itself as separate from the rest of 616

By the early 90's, any books pertaining to X-Men and mutants was its own continuity. They would cherry-pick when they'd be part of mainstream Marvel. And then they'd pull shit that throws their Avengers colleagues under the bus in the 2000's.

Scott and his struggles clash too much with the culture and stories that non-X books have. I say this as someone whose read X-Men for nearly 20 years. This is why I like FOX owning X-Men because if Disney had its hands on the movie rights, it'd be a clusterfuck of trying to make sense of all this shit. I don't mind Inhumans given more exposure in the MCU/TVerse because Kirby himself developed a lot of ideas for mutants, Inhumans, and Eternals/Deviants. I do agree that the Inhuman vs Mutant slapfest that Marvel's conjured is shitty writing and poor execution. There's an interesting premise they could've had, but they had to resort to in-fighting drama for writers on their soapboxes to drone on about.
