A good example that comes to mind is Star Wars, when people talk about it, they talk about Darth Vader's arc, they talk about Luke Skywalker's journey. Or, for a more recent example, Rey's future. Yeah, we like the space battles, and the gripping plot, but what really keeps us around are the CHARACTERS. And unless the people behind VLD realies that, the show can only go downhill.
