Did you read the new issue? Or most other issues, where she fucks things up because of her incompetence or negligence? A running theme in the comics is how she thinks the world will play to her tune because she knows the lore and meta, but she gets proven wrong and things fall apart.

The newest issue had her realize how she saw others as characters instead of people, and now she's trying to make it up to her friends for being so psychotic and uncaring. And also for ruining their lives through her psychotic and uncaring actions.

I wouldn't say she's a psychopath in actuality, either. She didn't see the people around her as real people - like how you probably have no problem killing characters in video games. But now Gwen is starting to realize that these people aren't just comic characters, but living, breathing people with their own lives and emotions.

Her costume is the way it is because her in-universe costume designer straight up assumed she was gwen-but-deadpool. The comic is all about meta-storytelling.
