The century tank, also known as the TIE Crawler, first appeared in Dark Empire #1. Like most things in Dark Empire, it was an enormous mistake.

While it initially seemed that this would be its last appearance as well, the universe is not nearly so merciful as that, and the abomination went on to appear in the comic book Crimson Empire #3, the novel Legacy of the Force: Exile, and the short story Pax Empirica -- The Wookiee Annihilation.

Unfortunately, stats for it were also published in the Dark Empire sourcebook for the West End Star Wars Roleplaying Game, as well as the Saga Edition Rebellion Era Campaign Guide, and it was woefully rendered in plastic as a miniature in the Star Wars Miniatures: The Force Unleashed expansion, as well as Star Wars Pocketmodels: Ground Assault.

Only time will tell if this atrocity will finally be given the rest it deserves, or if it will be resurrected again and again to further sordid ends.
