Way back, I was struck with the fear that I was doing bathroom activities _wrong_, that either I was never properly taught, or that I had fallen far from those forgotten teachings of my infancy. Because it's such a private thing, how would I know? But having no one in my life that I felt comfortable discussing the matter with, I just tried to ignore it (Google wasn't a thing yet).

Years later, I saw a discussion about folding vs scrunching (another term for crumpling) online, which awoke the old memory and fueled a prerogative to use the interwebs to investigate such matters. At that point it wasn't a fear, I had passed enough social interactions involving the Room of Hygiene that I couldn't be doing it too badly, but I was still curious. Unfortunately, most sites on the matter don't really go into any particular depth on technique. So what would be a simple search for basic explanations became a lengthy endeavor of shifting through references and critiques for glimmers of data. Polls and opinions and forums and medical sites and baby care sites and a whole shitload of stuff on how to shit (and other bathroom activities), all this and more passed before my eyes in the hours late enough to be called early. It became an interest that became something of a hobby. Some read trashy novels in bed before falling asleep, I read discussions about showering.

Then the whole matter became moot when I found sites about elderly care, which went into fairly good detail. Some great communities out there, helping to lessen the strain of folks trying to care for their families.

So yeah, haven't read a thesis on the matter, but I have read enough material to probably write several.
