His only flaw is that he's too tall but no one is going to cast a midget as the lead in a superhero movie
>>
>>90493286
It's a bit of a grey area, I thought it would have belonged on both boards.
>>
>>90493230
Honestly thought he was fantastic as the character and any other actor would have been far inferior
>>
I honestly wasn't a fan until the Wolverine because that felt like the first movie where he was trying
>>

The suit looks like crap so yeah.
>>
He literally made Wolverine with street clothes the go-to design for normies.
>>
>>90493230

Communicates none of the misanthropic panache of the character while also never coming close to pulling off the visual persona either. Came off like someone trying to act tough and aloof as opposed to it being an innate quality of the character he was portraying. Looked like a spaz during his berserker rages.

Also, too tall. Too pretty. Those may seem like superficial gripes, but I would argue they are paramount to the character.

Yeah, Jackman sucked.

Too tall, sure, but he's certainly ugly enough to play Logan. Especially with the squinty eyes

As someone who's never cared for either the comics or the movies, he's easily my favorite part of the entire x-men universe. I know he's not a 100% faithful adaptation from the comics of who Wolverine is, but I think he did an excellent job regardless, ESPECIALLY in Logan.

Can someone explain me where this film fits in the X-men movie universe?

First I thought it took place after the future from Days from the future past, since that future is 2023 and this movie was set in 2029,

But then I remembered in the movie said its been 25 years since the last mutant was born, if in 2023 there was a school filled with young mutants it can't be the same timeline.

Is this a third timeline inside the universe or what?
>>
>>90499819
>We are in the future, we have passed the point of the epilogue of Days Of Future Past.

http://collider.com/logan-timeline-explained-james-mangold/
>>
>>90499881
As I said, that's the logic thought, but then again, the movie clearly contradicts it, if there hasn't been new mutants in 25 years, there couldn't be mutant kids in the epilogue from Future Past
>>
>>90493230
In the context of the movie, yeah, he did some good acting.

Unfortunately, the character he played wasn't really "Wolverine" and nor has he ever played a true to source material version of the character.
>>
>>90501516
>nor has he ever played a true to source material version of the character.

"Source Material" Wolverine is all over the fucking place, as a result of being whored out in tons of books.
>>
>>90493296
>His only flaw is that he's too tall but no one is going to cast a midget as the lead in a superhero movie

Which is a shame because being small (but furious) is one of Wolverines defining traits as a character. Hell, it's why he is named Wolverine to begin with.
>>
>>90498869
>isn't this the porn parody?

Fun fact: the porn parodies were by far the most comic-accurate comic based movies.

They even managed to do a 100% cartoon accurate Scooby Doo porn. Complete with a hall chase scene, and "I would've gotten away with it if it weren't for those meddling kids".
>>
>>90501573
And Hugh Jackman hasn't played any of them.
>>
>>90501579
>>90493296
It really matters how tall he is? I mean, in the movies he is never seen as a tall man, his real persona being tall, doesn't have any repercusions on how the character is portrayed. In the movie he is shorter than Cyclops
>>
>>90493230
Fuck the suit, Wolverine himself has such an iconic look, there's no point covering it up. Also, Jackman was great and gonna be missed.

>>90504381
wolverine "himself" is absolutely not as iconic as the cowl. Doesn't even need to be day-glow yellow, orange/brown works, but the claws and cowl are wolverine.

I wish we were fighting over whether or not he looked better in the orange or yellow, or if they left the red belt out or not.

pic related is wolverine on almost every piece of merchandise I've ever seen.
>>
>>90499819
It's in the future after the end of DoFP. Also it is implied that X-men comics and by extension previous xmen films are fictionalised versions of Logan's real life. So they have an out to continue the franchise by saying Logan isn't really in the X-men continuity after all
>>
>but much suit
Oh fuck off

Why would Logan even wear a bright yellow spandex suit? Does he have any reason to in this movie? Do you seriously think Wolverine would just suit up and fight for justice? No, it's only because you comic book nerds want to watch the movie and say "IT'S JUST LIKE MY COMICS!", you just want the movie to pander to you and deliver fanservice while not even thinking about what's best for the story.

I'm glad the people in charge of good movies have professional integrity.
>>
>>90498315
expect another shit f4 movie because fox is being spiteful. If they can't make a profit off of it no one can. It's cheaper for them to throw a bomb every 4 years than it is to show investors what a success the ip is in someone else's hand.
>>
>>90495413
Batman's is not YELLOW.
>>
I really don't get the fuss about Jackman never wearing the suit. It strikes me as such a small thing to be upset about.

On the other hand, Jackman did a great job with the character. No, it wasn't exactly Wolverine from the comics, but it was an excellent interpretation. Since I assume there will be some sort of major reboot of the X-Men franchise eventually, I suppose someone else will have a shot at playing Wolverine -- and I feel pretty sorry for whoever tries to do it.

Do you faggots realize that one of the greatest alien invasion movies of all time is based on a political protest novel? No, of course not because your cultural literacy is stunted and you do nothing to improve it.

That said, Logan is also a direct appeal to that same juvenile cultural illiteracy through wanton graphicness and millennial delusions as to what family is.

That said, it does a great job of doing almost everything it does. It's probably gonna wind up in my top 5 capeshit.

Your second post just says he shares the character's origin and he smokes. He's not short, he doesn't wear similar clothes or similar hairstyle, he doesn't have a similar personality. If that's enough to be a good adaptation to you, then I'm sorry you're so easily impressed.

Just from memory there is a cover to Aaron's run that had wolverine in jeans. You're categorically wrong.
There's also an issue of x-factor where Wolverine wears a tux.
Read some comics.

I'm glad you're finally accepting it's an adaptation, but now we need to get you to realize adaptation doesn't equal 1:1. Friendly reminder that The Departed, There Will Be Blood, Reservoir Dogs, The Godfather and a whole host of critically-acclaimed-for-their-artistry movies are adaptations and not 1:1 adaptations.

>>90506044
You seem to be mixing up your opinions with facts. It's ok though, it's a common symptom of being an obnoxious jackass so it's to be expected.
>>
>>90506860
Most of the differences about personality depend on the different circumstances he finds himself in. Comic Wolverine has existed for over 40 years and he's appeared in hundreds or maybe thousands of comic books, which fleshed out his personality in countless ways. Just take a look at the difference between X-Force Wolverine and the Avengers one.
On the other hand we've barely had 7 different settings and storylines featuring Wolverine in the movies, 4 of which didn't even have Logan as the main focus, except maybe for X-Men 2.
In other words, if movie and comic Wolverine switched places they wouldn't be so different, height and suit aside.
Taking all this into account, maybe the comic one seems more feral, for lack of a better world. while the movie one just seems to have more of a short temper, but all in all the two are undeniably similar.
