>ECCC gossip has it that he has quit Marvel completely. That his two-year exclusive deal may be coming to an end, and he’s not looking for it to be renewed.

His Moon Knight run was one of the highlights that Marvel had, bummer.
>>
>>90479851

Smallwood already stated that he was working on his last MK issue, makes sense that it might change creative teams completely.

and his X-Men run is over, with no new books announced.

so either we get his triumphant DC return, or he focuses on his....5? Image books.
>>
>>90479851
that's what happens when you suck at X-Men, it's a scarlet letter that follows you till the end of your days

he'll probably move on to self printed porn before leaving the industry all together.
>>
>>90479851
That list of ex-Marvel writers reminds me that quite a few Marvel guys have come to grief on X-Men. Brubaker openly says his Uncanny X-Men run is the Marvel work he likes least.
>>
>>90479926
>That's what happens when you suck at X-Men
Then why is Bendis still employed
>>
>>90479851
X-Men is poison.
>>
He'll likely focus on his indy work, but it'd be nice to have Lemire do one or two projects back home at DC again.
>>
>>90479948

His Uncanny X-Men run was also super hindered by having the most awkward team roster while Whedon was getting his dick sucked by editorial.
>>
>>90479996

He just announced another Image book, yea?
so he'll have 4 going, including one hes doing the art for.
>>
>>90479964
Bendis has power beyond mortal comprehension at this point.
>>
Why do they keep putting Kelly Sue with list of Marvel writers that left like she ever wrote a hit

Hopefully Moon Knight continues without Lemire, though it'll suck to see Smallwood leave.
>>
>>90479964
Bendis was doing what 10 books a month and now he's down to 4, his iron clad grip on Marvel is looser now than ever.

also he had legion of Superstar artists and Kris Anka to distract from his shitty writing.
>>
>>90480061
That's Stokoe, you retard.
>>
>>90480059
Her Captain Marvel may have been shit, but it did garner a kind of rabid cult following that screeched loudly about how great Captain Marvel without actually buying it.

>he'll go back to DC and his writing will be better than before
>>
What a shame, since most of his books I enjoyed. I recall Lemire said he had the Moon Knight planned for 25-26 issues as a full story. Worried he's gonna have to rush the ending.

Otherwise, I'm hoping he returns to DC. Maybe with a Young Animal book? That would turn some heads.

>Lemire leaves
>Marvel hires that butch Puerto Rican dyke to start writing their books
So much for Marvel Rebirth.
>>
>>90480154
Image if Lemire's Animal Man had been a Young Animal book.
>>
>>90479926
Anon, everybody sucks at X-men currently and have for years. It's practically editorial mandate at this point. Lemire was one of the stars for DC during the Nu52 era (Animal Man, Frankenstein Agent of Shade, Green Arrow) and he's a top level creator owned writer whose books do well over at Image and other non big 2 publishers.

He will be fine, and the fact he was able to squeeze out 2 quality comics in OML and Moon Night in this garbage fire era of Marvel speaks to his talent. Dude can go wherever he wants and he will be successful. Objectively a bigger blow to Marvel than to him, but with how every other notable writer they had jumped ship in similar fashion to do indie work its to be expected.
>>
>>90480154
He announced a while back that he was leaving Old Man Logan at #24, and Moon Knight at #14 (with that run ending). We were wondering if he was totally done now, since the only book he has left is Thanos.

Knowing him, he might already have a years worth of Thanos finished

A Young Animal book would be cool. Weren't there rumors that Sweet Tooth was supposed to be a Kamadi book originally? Sucks that he misses that challenge because of the marvel exclusivity
>>
>>90479964
He caught an exec snorting blow out a child prostitutes ass and took pics before joining in.
>>
>>90480138
It worked for Humphries. If they can do it for one more person then bam.
>>
>>90480242
Although Lemire already was good before writing DCU books.
>>
>>90480108
Since KSD, every Captain Marvel run sells worse than the last.

If anything, she fucked Carol Danvers forever.
>>
>>90480080
Anka is with Chip, anon.

>>
>>90480108
>rabid cult following that screeched loudly about how great Captain Marvel without actually buying it
Like H.E.A.T. without the buying part
>>
Guess that means he'll have more time to devote to writing Bloodshot for Valiant and whatever other indie books he's working on
>>
>>90480198

I am satisfied with Bunn's Uncanny. And I like the last 3 issues of Uncanny which are stand alone tie in to IvX more than the previous story arcs.
>>
>>90480495
and if anything he benefited from it since he might have been pushed to trying to copy Morrison's AM instead of continuing Delano's
>>
>>90479851
Marvel needs some new talent ASAP (actual talents, not flavor of the month YA fiction writers)
>>
>>90480595
Sucks that he got saddled with Land.
>>
>>90479926
So far he's got Bloodshot at Valiant (which I think is getting another relaunch soon, with Lemire still on writing duties, natch), and Descender, Royal City, and Family Tree at Image, so I think he'll be fine.
>>
Didn't really like his MK but I'm surprised he's abandoning ship when it was so acclaimed. As in one of the few genuinely acclaimed things Marvel has at the moment.
>>
>>90480203
thanos is probably done since deodato is moving to old man logan
>>
>>90480619
I think what's kind of happening with Marvel is that since the movies are a license to print money, the comics are free to do whatever the fuck they want. And the problem is, they're basically just hiring talent that will work for peanuts with no oversight because it doesn't matter.

Well gee, I sure wonder who could be behind that...
>>
>>90480678
We're kind of getting a reverse situation that DC was in a few years back, when everyone was jumping ship from there to Marvel. I think that the cause is the same as well, Editorial is driving people away.
>>
>>90480678
His contract is up, and what person with any shred of dignity wants to work for them these days?
>>
>>90480755
Yeah. Exactly.
>>
>>90480764
Really? I was under the impression Marvel editors were lazy shitbags and writers could mostly do what they wanted unless it was something really stupid.

>Hey gang, let's kill off Spider-Man in CW2.
>>
>>90480703
DC scooped all of the new talents (King, Seeley, Orlando, Williamson, Williams etc.)
granted, none of them will be the new Moore or Morrison, but they are perfectly capable of writing solid superheroics without either blatant pandering or 'lol so randumb XD'-style storytelling
>>

pepe_time.jpg
45KB, 544x362px
I seriously can't believe it's been two years since Lemire jumped ship to Marvel.
>>
>>90480815
That's probably a reason why everyone's leaving. Everyone's running amok and there's little to no oversight. Every solo gets dragged into whatever fucking Event springs up month to month but nobody's thinking through how to connect things. Like, we've been told that Scott Summer's is Mutant Hitler for months, but nobody actually laid out why, so when we learn the actual reason it feels like everyone's retarded. I think people are being driven off not because the editorial is overbearing, but because they editorial isn't doing there jobs.
>>
>>90480899
Were people excited back then?
>>
>>90480887
>Williamson
>perfectly capable of writing solid superheroics without either blatant pandering or 'lol so randumb XD'-style storytelling

Not on /co/, no.
We were more upset because his Animal Man was good.
>>
>>90480946
Nope, pretty much everyone thought it was a bad idea.
>>
>>90480623

I do like the art of the books with Ken Lashley a lot, I feel like he has been in half the books. And I also feel like Land has been trying more lately. Perhaps he googles his name and discovers all the people hating on him, and that pushed him to try to be better.
It's a shame Marvel always puts him on X Men books.
>>
Marvel continues to bleed talent. Even if his stuff hasn't been great lately he was one of the last good names left at Marvel.

They need to get things under control over there. If the Chelsea Cain on Vision thing is true, that's a good move. She may be shit but she made a bit of a name for herself with the controversy surrounding Mockingbird and she has fans now.

>>90480138
>he gets to write the new Legion book
>>
Never enjoyed his big two work as much as his earlier independent work anyway. I never got the praise for his current Moon Knight or OML. Both were carried by the artists. He has declined since he started to write superhero comics. Royal City looks intriguing, so I hope he can deliver now.
>>
>>90480985
Did he jump ship before or after Soule?
>>
>>90480985
pretty much everyone was proven right
>>
>>90481042
Lemire is absolute thrash on team books.
>>
>>90481042
>If the Chelsea Cain on Vision thing is true, that's a good move.
LOL
>>
>>90481045

same timeish?

But Soule went straight from DC to Marvel (likw he had 2 DC books and 2 Marvel books out the same month), and Lemire took a couple months before having anything announced.
>>
>>90481042
Chelsea Cain wasn't even bad. It was just the tampons part and the last issue which triggered fans.
>>
>>90479851
his moon knight is terrible, sad to see him leave cause he's pretty good but yeesh

hope he does some good stuff over at DC or wherever
>>
>>90480204

Guy on SS? He is mediocre at best.1
>>
>>90481127
I thought she "quit comics forever" because it was so toxic.
>>
>>90481099
Try reading the following sentence where I explain that. Whether she's shit or not, her name is known now and her being on a book will generate controversy, or signing an exclusive with her.

>>90481074
I wouldn't say trash but yeah not the best. But it's his dream and I wanna see someone with that kind of passion on the book.
>>
>>90480978
>We were more upset because his Animal Man was good.
It wasn`t good after rotworld.
>>90481127
She wasn`t good either, but
>It was just the tampons part and the last issue which triggered fans.
this. Still I would be glad if she gone from comics.
>>
>>90481143

Williams' Martian Manhunter was good.

His only other work I know was his Dark Wolverine run following up Way/Liu and that was more 'not the same' than bad.
>>
>>90481143
I agree with most of your opinions, but Orlando is great.
>>
>>90481143
Williams is writing a good Vertigo book now. Seeley wrote a couple of good Image books and his Suicide squad was based.
>>
>>90479851
>Joining the likes of Matt Fraction, Kelly Sue DeConnick, Ed Brubaker, Rick Remender and more on the creator-owned bandwagon

WHEN WILL BENDIS JOIN THEM?
>>
>>90481143
Seeley also had a very good Suicide Squad story arc
>>
>>90481249
his only books I've enjoyed were the two Midnighter volumes where he went full homo (even though I'm not gay)
>>
>>90481249
Nah, he's the worst of the newly signed exclusives, after Tynion and Humphries.
>>
Good. He always phoned it in for Marvel anyway.

Bendis' indy work is published through Marvel's imprint Icon and DC won't ever touch him. The same goes for Slott, Waid, Spencer, etc.. Both of them will never leave Marvel because their names are too big there now and nobody else will take them.
>>
>>90481382
Spencer is already publishing his indie comics at image.

I can see he leaving marvel soon to focus only on autoral work, just like Brubaker and Remender

Bendis is already writing his creator-owned books through Marvel. He'll be working for Marvel till the day he dies, and by then his children will already be writing at Marvel.
>>
>>90479851
I've only read his Green Arrow run. Is his Old Man Logan any good?
>>
>>90479851
Considering he has another Image title int he works that was to be expected. If you count that(though it's supposed to be coming alter in the year iirc) he has 6 projects going right now.

I agree about Moon Knight it was great and it leaves me thinking that Lemire just quit like a bitch before finishing his run, kinda like he did on Green Arrow and JLU.
>>
>>90479851
Good. Now can concentrate on writing and drawing more books like Royal City and less mediocre super hero stories
>>
>>90481042
>Marvel continues to bleed talent
Lemire has not been that great for them.

And considering they're bringing in new comers like Brisson, Rosenberg, Loveness...

How is it out of context? Please, enlighten me.

>>90482726
Johnny Sorrow's face doesn't drive you crazy. It kills you.
>>
>>90482780
DC only has old washed up fuckers besides King, Castellucci, Yang and Way
>>
>>90482726
>You can't really drive a crazy person crazy.
But that's not what Sorrow's face does?
>>
>>90482755
>Hastings, Robbie Thompson, Loveness

I've literally never heard of these writers.
>>
>>90482841
Not even trying anymore, my angry anon.
>>
>>90482874
>Hastings
Dude, Gwenpool! The salvation of Marvel comics!
>>
>>90482821
it's out of context because you are implying the whole comic is about this kind of shit, but in reality it had like two scenes with Harley like this (besides, how else are you going to write her?)
>>
>>90483048
>besides, how else are you going to write her?
Competently, keep her in street level stories.
>>
>>90480661
don't forget Black Hammer over at Dark Horse
>>
really doesn't make sense for any writer worth a shit to be working at big 2
>>
>>90482904
>Gwenpool

That explains it.
>>
>>90483048
>how else are you going to write her?
Not have her look at the death-face and just giggle would be a nice start.
I mean, there's no part of that scene where she HAS to look at Johnny Sorrow's face.

...

... it... did... happen...

... how are you unaware if this? were you not on the board all last week?
>>
>>90483372
Why don't you just send your resume to DC and stop whining?
>>
>>90483440
>durrr why dont you write yourself if youre so good??
Not an argument.

Thanks for admitting you're a loser. Now you and >>90483048 get a room.

*Pak and Robinson are the very definition of burnt-out writers trying to recapture their old glory

Robinson I get it, but Pak?
>>
>>90482755
Eew.

Marvel really needs to hire better writers desu
>>
>>90484001
okay, Pak isn't that old, but (arguably) his two best runs were on Hulk and Hercules (with Cho), and Awesome Hulk is essentially trying to recapture the glory of those two series
it isn't a bad series by any means, but it's giving me a massive 'been there done that' feel
>>
>>90484191
>his two best runs were on Hulk and Hercules (with Cho)
Forgettable. That's no glory.
>>
>>90484214
>Forgettable
Planet Hulk got an animated movie and it's getting a semi-live action adaptation soon too. Not too shabby for a forgettable run.

He has also got a book at Valiant. If Kindt is on X-O, maybe one of his books will be freed up for Lemire?
>>
>>90480609
Not really. The entire impetus for AM/ST was because Johns was looking to relaunch books as followup to BN/BD with Berger's helper. You really can't separate these two elements from each other.
>>
>>90482586
>Would it be feasible for Aaron to go to DC?

Why would DC want him? Thor? W&XM? Strange? Thanos? The man is the definition of mediocrity.
