To commemorate the release of the new Zelda game, I'm going to storytime the old Link to the Past comic. Starting with Chapter 1. The Hero's Awakening!
Let me know if you're reading and what you think!
Hey! Listen!
This comic is dope.
Listen!
If anyone has read or watched the old Cyborg 007, you'll recognise the art in general and one character's design in particular...
[ KRACKOOM INTENSIFIES ]
Fittingly, the captcha this time had me find all "castles".
>>90478836
Well it is drawn by the creator of that. I wonder whether he played LttP for this.
O w O what's this?
If this comic was mirrored from the original right-to-left reading order, does that mean Link was intended to be right-handed? Or was the comic cut up and re-arranged? Or was it left-to-right to begin with? Who knows!
Extreme action! Boings and sproings!
The old "glowing weak spot"!
Well that was easy.
>>90478793
Fuck yeah, Ishinomori!
Please keep this going OP, it's probably the best Nintendo comic.

You found the torch!
>>90479068
Thank you for reading!
>>90478879
He probably did! It was all the rave in those days.
Seems like an awfully big commitment to make based on a "feeling."
Even his sword got staticky!
That first panel is wonderful. I'm also a big fan of the colours.
Will our hero be able to retrieve the Master Sword and save princess Zelda? Will the old man be able to keep up with Link running off into the darkness, despite his arthritic knees? Find out next time, on the Legend of Zelda!
And by next time, I mean right fucking now!
Did he just toss the sign so it stuck perfectly out of the ground from horseback? Employee of the month?

i randomly found this collected in a softcover when i was a kid at wal-mart on a boring vacation. glad i did, otherwise i would have to scrap together old nintendo powers.
That's a very accurate portrait.
>>90479309
Cool! I did not know it was ever collected! Do you have a picture of it
Advice given from the sketchiest person in the land!
Weird how the cup was on his side of the table, and now she suddenly has it in hand.
I remember this guy from the game. Stands guard outside Zelda's cell I believe.

ha not with me. can post later if this thread is still up. found that and the super mario adventure that was also published in nintendo power.
This is page 1 of a two-page spread.
>>90479456
Very nice!
>>90479476
And here's page 2! Nice view of the ziggurat.
Virtue rhyming with True? Hmm...
Must sound better in the original Hylian!
It's dangerous to go alone! Take this!
BOUND!
Up next - The Book of Mudora!

He simply iced that dude. Stone cold.
Beautiful page.
>>90479613
Quite literally STONE cold, it seems!
This is a bit confusing, because Link clearly has the master sword in his hand here, but one supposedly needs the three pendants to wield it!
Really nice "mirrored" art in panels 2 and 3!
Eat your heart out, Breath of the Wild!
ESRB Warning: Contains nudity.
Fuck reading!

>Ishimori
YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHH
I din't know that.
>>90479944
Yay!
Link gets his just deserts.
A lawn mowah!
Classic blinking eye weak spot!
Page 1 of another two-page spread.
Top right makes it look like Link is falling into a chimney, santa style!
>>90480047
Page 2! And a cliff-hanger!
We drop right back into the action in Chapter Four with another two-page spread!
>>90480097
Beautiful colours and composition.
[ SHHHOOOP! ]
The sound a giant centipede rock monster thing makes as it slinks away into the sand!
"Go find it lol"
Ben... Ben!
Fantastic page.
Link knows to go for the eye!
bump for doing the goddess' work.
KA-SPLAT!
>>90480372
Thank you!
In Hyrule, women too can be knights! Very progressive!
Page 1 of another two-page spread.
Very enticing drawing of the master sword. Really captures the Zelda feel!
The real adventure begins now!
>>90480490
And that marks the conclusion of the first arc and this storytime. But this is far from the end of Link's adventure!

Thanks OP, good shit.
Thanks OP. I was considering posting this as well as I've done the Metroid and Star Fox comics several times, but I don't have the money to get Breath of the Wild yet and I don't wanna get myself hyped.
>>90479944
It's the only work of his available in print in English. Comixology sadly has licensed the rest of his entire works.
