The big movie pretty much got cancelled because Disney kept pushing it back as the lowest possible fucking priority and every time Spider-Man or Ant-man or someone comes along to add a new movie or sequel to the production schedule, there became less and less room for Inhumans until they finally acknowledged they were never going to make the damn movie, and I think they decided to do a TV show instead of abandon the property altogether because it's cheaper than doing a movie and much less of a financial risk on what might be a hard sell
