I honestly can't understand the hate for this version. It came out when only the first two games were out, so there wasn't much to infer of any characters personality-wise.

At the very least, it should be seen as an amusing take on the character, but instead people act like it completely defiles the series. I personally like the idea of a pompous, smug Link whose life goal is to try and steal a kiss from Zelda.
