PICKING UP WITH ISSUE 10~!! Toldja I'd come back

So anyway, I went to emerald city comic con and takes to a couple creators. Told Christos Gage how much I loved the secret wars spider island stuff. And I even takes to Slott despite hating his current ASM stuff for awhile. I decided to be polite, especially since I was getting new ways to die signed. Told him that I thought Anti-Venom was the best the character has ever been, and also praised Agent Venom. Two things I learned were that in ends of the earth, instead of black cat and silver sable worth Spidey, it was supposed to be Agent Venom and Black Cat, and apparently this can be seen in a vision of the future in a free comic book day issue? But then Felicia was busy in Daredevil, and Agent Venom was in circle of 4.

The other thing I learned from him was that apparently a lot of writers have wanted to give Flash his legs back, through things like the lizard serum and whatnot, and Slott basically has managed to block them on almost every attempt, only accepting robot legs. I totally agree with him that it's too important for the character. So whole I still can't say I enjoy Slott's Spidey, or even particularly like him as a person, I think I can say I don't hate him anymore. It was a nice chat.

I also talked with Robbie Thompson for awhile, and I was absolutely right on guessing that he preferred the original agent venom costume to the spaceknight one, and it was the whole reason for the last page of spaceknight #13. I mentioned Flash going back to New York, and brought up the idea of Andi coming with him to Thompson, Slott, and even Gage. I don't know if anything will come of it, but Robbie did say that there are plenty of people at Marvel who are fans of Mania. And when Robbie heard the GOTG were headed to earth for civil war II, he immediately asked Cullen Bunn if he could use Mania.

So if Civil War II never happened then Flash never would have gone back to Earth and Mania wouldn't have been brought out of limbo. Heh. I guess that's one good thing that came out of that event. Wonder how things would have gone if the book wasn't cancelled. I can also tell that Robbie Thompson really wanted to write an Agent Venom book but had to make do with the Cosmic Bendis Space Knight stuff handed to him and just tried to make the best he could of it.

Also thanks for bringing up Andi and the idea of her going to New York with Flash to Slott and Gage.

I honestly don't care about Pat that much (Sorry Pat fans). Flash becoming Venom again could also lead to another Agent Venom book starring him and Mania which would make me happy.

Cripes. Why is almost literally every single character in this whole storyline a complete ass?

Bob's obviously the villain, but he's so damn smug about it and he's loving the gruesomeness. The clone girls are kind of evil but mostly just really dumb, and even the one that goes rogue decides to threaten to kill a bunch of people for basically no reason. If she wanted to join up with enom girl and cool robot guy, why not just offer her help freely? The threat accomplished nothing. The Fantastic Four are randomly super mercenary and dismissive of both the obviously victimized venom girl and Spider-Man. Seriously, why'd they chain the girl down stick her in a pod? What the hell heroes. And Fury's... mostly in character, actually, if a bit immature sounding with some of the dialogue. Calling that one scientist a nerd was kind of weird, but a little funny. Cool robot guy is kind of okay, he actually seems like he's genuinely trying to help, but he's a bit detached.

Poor venom girl though. Her and Spidey are the only people in this whole thing that aren't jerks.

Still though, Way managed to shit on Spider-Man, the fantastic 4, and even Nick Fury all at once, while still not even writing about the actual symbiote. At least we're getting a story about the real symbiote in Costa's run. I don't like where it's headed either, but who knows, maybe he'll at least redeem himself with #150 and Eddie getting it back. Costa's done work I liked before with Scarlet Spiders.

Spidey is repeatedly put down by all the other heroes and is beaten by Venom off panel in the first meeting. He finally gets one good page where he punches him through a wall while claiming to be stronger (Even though this is false), and Nick Fury is an absolute bitch the whole time. The Bob guy just makes fury his dog and Fury can't do anything about it, not to mention he's fairly incompetent.
