DA JOKA DA JOKA DA JOKA DA JOKA
First thing I read is "other view the character as Marxist".
Instantly dropped.

That's literary criticism for you Anon.
It's just exaggeration and overthinking

Fucking hell people who don't read comics should be executed when they make a "bold" claim about a comic book character.
The Joker fucking loves money. A huge portion of his schemes are to make money.

No.

Actually literary criticism uses evidence. Since comics are considered a low medium you're allowed to cherry pick and exaggerate to ridiculous proportions because no one in the peer review process knows enough to call you out, and they also begin to circlejerk with you on this "daring" interpretation of the character. Even crazy claims about other stuff in literature are at least backed up with pages and pages of diligent citation.

Anyone read it?
name a comic villain deeper than the Joker

He's only as deep as you look into him

Well Joker is a pretty old character and is one of the most popular villains. So obviously there's a lot of material to analyse. Many characters get updated and transmogrified in response to contemporary political and cultural trends.
To be honest i think the Joker is an interesting character study.
