The YA books are targeted towards the market who usually buys comics as Trades, and DC knows this.

And Didio's known for sticking his neck out for unique, non-superhero books, even when Omega Men was selling less than 9000 he kept it going.

Current vertigo does sell like ass, so much that even Shade, at 13K, sells 1.5 times more copies than their other books.

I assume that DC expects numbers between DC mainline and Vertigo for this imprint.
