Okay here's my thing with Jackie. I don't hate Jackie. I think she serves her purpose well. But I don't really feel anything from her the way I do about Star. She's too perfect, she has no real issues, she's just Marco's reciprocated crush. And in a show when you have characters growing and changing or even just being around at all, Jackie sticks out for not really being all that interesting because she's 100% around to be connected with Marco

For comparison, when I started watching Star vs, I hated Pony Head so much I actively dropped the show and didn't pick it up until season 2. That's how much she annoyed me. But we come down to The Bounce Lounge and Starcrushed and I don't mind her presence at all. I actually kind of like her and think she fits decently in because the writers learned to use her better. That's the difference. The writers aren't using Jackie to her full potential because she's not endgame and they don't want people getting super attached to her which is something I don't feel when Marco is with Star

The writers didnt focus on her this season as a red herring. Next season they will use her better because the veil is revealed that Marco wil not feel the same way about Star. Star's true character arc is coming to terms with this and still remaining good friends with Marco. To undo Mackie which Star worked so hard to set up betrays all of Star's development. Star doing all that showed that she truly loved Marco and wanted to ensure his happiness.

Different anon here but I honestly think that Jackie's been presented that way -so far- because it has served the narrative -so far-. She was the perfect ultracool dream girl Marco completely spilled his spaghetti around for very long. Then they went on dates, and surprise she didn't fall for the "dream hottie turns out to be a vapid airhead bitch, plain girl is much nicer and thus wins" cliche.
After that Marco was still a bit nervous to see her, because actually being in her presence was still very new to him and he was worried he'd fuck up, that Jackie would see the real him and that he's not really all that cool and drop him. But then in Just Friends Jackie comforted him, joked a bit, supported him, and they ended up kissing and becoming an official couple.

So now, with the ease and closeness and proximity, Marco isn't nervous around her any more. And now we're also seeing more new sides to her. The "disease-ridden little angels" and the ear and the way she pranked Marco into almost apologizing to the duck, the weird comment about reading her mind, getting goofy over NOT THINKING ABOUT ANYTHING during summer, and finally the bitch did you just -face in the end.

She's the official gf instead of the unreachable dream girl now, and she's finally gonna come down from the pedestal as Marco gets to know her. She's gonna get a personality, and probably some flaws too.

It's certainly been discussed since the finale, there's both positives and negatives to it in retrospect. Positively speaking it really ramped up the tension of the main plot line that season 2 had been following. To see these newly established, powerful characters go down so handily to Toffee in some new form was great to watch, particularly Moon's additions. It helped show what's at stake and has begun to enlighten us on what Toffee's goals are, at least in the short term for now.

One feature I personally enjoyed was finally seeing the full potential of this supposedly ancient, most powerful wand in the Star vs world. We've only really seen Ludo or Star wielding it, cleaved for a good portion of that time too. As such, we've never seen it's full potential, particularly as Toffee seemed to be utilising dark magic. It really raises the question of how he can be combated in that form moving forward, as far as we know all the other prominent magical opposition is less powerful.

The bad sides of the encounter are really a reflection of the good parts. To continue on the last positive point, the negative side of that involves a feeling that there really isn't a legitimate threat to Toffee if he's as powerful as he seems, how could they ever stop him without him jobbing or doing something foolish? However, this is trying to predict something in the future using only what we know now, which is always a fool's game. Until we see how season 3 approaches the plot line it's rather pointless to do much more than speculate scenarios that could transpire.

That's the bit I'm really hoping doesn't happen. It feels like Toffee would have to be brought down a peg if he's going to get defeated by Star, given she's got a lot to learn to even become proficient with her cleaved wand.
