Pigs are disappearing in a weird way and wolves might have something to do with it. Walt is no longer the mayor and Dottie has drifted away from him. Key characters introduced are: Portia who was harassed by wolves, recieves mysterious calls, wanted to get /fit/ and is now porking Walt; Heather who was related to a disappeared pig and is now violently paranoid; Jolene who lost an eye after Heather tried to defend her from a wolf. In the current strip, it's implied Dottie has become obsessed with her journalism and will get physical for answers.

"How Lucranian ships operate will eventually be explored in detail. Whether this particular ship is actually killing its supposed "batteries" is meant to be entirely subjective. Aside from the two scenarios you mention, there's also the possibility, hinted at in the strip, that the entire sequence in the ship's hold was tactical misdirection on the part of the ship's computer.. just one big illusion.. in which case there may be no corpses at all. It's also conceivable that the ship is one huge mutant-trapping bug zapper and its entire perimeter is littered with concealed corpses like the one that Al and Gustine run across outside "Flapjack City". It would be very easy for me to say "here's what *really* happened" and deliver some kind of concrete solution, but it would be a lie. There isn't a concrete solution and never was one. I had dinner with a reader a few weeks back and we discussed no fewer than eleven perfectly possible objective versions of the underlying narrative. Yes, I get all that, but we still have absolutely no idea about what's going on with the wolves and the pigs. Most of the characters we've seen seem like throwaway ones - I only expect Walt, Dottie, the other lawyer, and Portia to play any notable roles in this arc. This still leaves major gaps in terms of what's happened since we were last in Endtown, who's in control, who's behind all of this, what's up with Marx, Jackrabbit, Mallard etc.

One panel works for the 'poking fun' thing. Aaron went on a minor tirade with Marx while using Doc as the surrogate to his detractors that were really vocal against what happened. What's stupid is that if he just left it with the kids fighting I'd agree it was well nuanced and a great tongue in cheek closure but there was absolutely nothing professional with the following few comics before we finally shifted focus to the new storyline.

It was one comic set up by Marx' storytelling premise. The comics that followed with Doc were not still mocking the viewers in my opinion. Doc wanted his fucking daughter back. Of course he'd make demands of Marx.
