Yeah, that's definitely the season 2 finale.
I highly recommend watching the rest - as I implied above, season 4 is up there with the best Western animation has to offer.

season 2 is a school case shark jumping.
The problem is that it's a show that wanted to be too many things and ended up not achieving any of its goals

Different strokes for different folks, I guess.
I found the first 2 seasons to have some fun moments but be quite boring overall.
Season 3 had potential but mostly squandered it, while season 4 was just amazing.
Maybe it's that I don't normally go into shows with a preconception of what they "should" be about.

I thought it wrapped things up quite well, which was actually kind of shocking if you watched it when it aired originally. Even ONE EPISODE before the actual finale, I was terrified we would never get some of the answers we got. I'm actually still surprised they managed to cram so much in. Now that's good writing there.

The "cliffhanger" was rather minor, and just a simple sequel hook.
