So why is Marvel trying to push Carol so hard? They've already

So why is Marvel trying to push Carol so hard? They've already tried multiple times in the past, and she never sticks, at all. The excuse of "we need our own Wonder Woman" doesn't make any sense, because why not use a female character that people actually liked well before this? I mean shit, she's so literally who that the crowd went quiet at the MVCI reveal, and yet she's getting a movie in 2019?

She is the most powerful and most popular hero in the world

YAAS QUEEN!
>>
>>90300400
Who would you propose Marvel could use? Pretty much all the major female heroes I can think of are tied up in X-Men or other team baggage and have rights issues for use outside the comics.
>>
I liked her in Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes.
>>
>>90300400
All of Marvel's best ladies are X-Men who they don't have the movie rights to.

She-Hulk's movie rights are probably nebulously tied up in Hulk's, who they don't have distribution rights for movies.

She's one of their only lady characters with a big powerset. Seriously who else do they have? Moondragon? Tigra?
>>
>>90300543
>>90300481
So it's basically out of desperation?
>>
>>90300400
Because even as pathetically nebulous as WW is in the eyes of the casual public Carol is the only woman Marvel has that's even remotely close without being tied into a million other things.
>>
>>90300573
Yep! And that desperation is leading them to relaunch the character again and again without a solid idea of what they want out of her other than "be popular".
>>
>>90300543
Also She-Hulk is green so she lacks the necessary mass appeal beauty required. Her niche is covered by Gamora in GotG anyway.

Why not Kamala?

Christ, she gained popularity faster that Carol ever did or will.

And popularity seems to be what Marvel wants.
>>
>>90300737
Because her whole deal is the unsure teenage hero looking up to others.

She can't fill the powerful independent woman role right now.
>>
>>90300737
Until they tanked her book with crossovers and forgetting that the jersey street level hero was what made her popular
>>
>>90300737
Kamala is actively being ruined by getting pushed too fast. If she had stayed in her book for a few years and built up a good rogues' gallery and maintained her supporting cast, maybe people would agree with you.

But they're pushing her way too hard right now and it's getting on peoples' nerves, especially since it seems like nobody but her own writer can write her worth a damn.
>>
>>90300737
They want a Wonder Woman, a confident adult heroine.
>>
>>90300737
>ever did
Carol sold more than her as Ms.Marvel
>>
>>90300737
They are pushing the fuck out of her already are you blind?

>tfw it's just gonna crumble apart because they can't fucking handle that well enough.
>>

Eh Gamora is just green Black Widow so far. Just being a bruiser would be enough to differentiate SHulk from every other female MCU character.
>>
>>90300543
We'll never have Tigra licking her cunt clean on the big screen.
>>
>>90300543

>>90300966
the only thing Monica is good for is frying blacula
>>
>>90300934
The other non-exclusive character in the deal is Jessica Drew, who can be used by Sony as Spider-Woman but also by Marvel provided their version does not include any of the character’s Spider-Man related elements. The list of related characters that goes with Drew and which are also held by both Sony and Marvel on a non-exclusive basis includes SHIELD agent Jerry Hunt and her business partner and actress Lindsay McCabe plus the rights to “Drew & McCabe Investigations” so it appears that around the time these rights were original assigned, Marvel (or someone else who held those specific rights) may have had some thoughts towards either a film or TV series set during the period when Drew lost her Spider-Woman powers and was working as a private detective in California in the course of which the character might also have had some dealings with SHIELD.

What’s clear is that under this deal only Sony had the rights to either make a Spider-Woman movie using Drew or use the character in that role in any of its other Spider-Man related films.

>>
>>90301049
But she does it damn well!
>>
>>90300400
Because she was once the biggest thing in Marvel all by herself, without any pushing.
Fans just liked her for her.

And you know what Marvel did then? Just what you would have done: they character assassinated her to near-death-coma, and worse, because most of them couldn't write a woman as an actual human being thanks to your kind of sexist crap were women are seen as worthless if they aren't blow-up dolls.

So now they have lots of writers that can see a woman as human and they look around and see that they don't have any feminist "WonderWoman" icons in their comics to sell to an emerging female market.
They could have created another token character and pushed some half-assed writing to explain why a nobody new character was being made Marvel's new top-tier hero ...
but why do that when there's an old popular icon in their lineup already that's (not literally) made for this moment but may as well be?
>>
>>90301179
I only knew her existence because of paid shilling here in 4chan

Though I will never be her fan nor will watch her movie
Already did It with Doctor strange
>>
because people only like the female mutants and they don't have the movie rights to them
>>
>>90301179
Are you sure about that?
>>
>>90300848
She's got superstrength. Just that it seems to be a bit above CapAm strength rather than Hulk level strength.

And I was only referring to the aesthetic of being a sexy green lady anyway since my point was that Shulk being green reduces her effectiveness in the image of traditionally sexy to the largest audience.
>>
>>90301179
>Because she was once the biggest thing in Marvel all by herself, without any pushing.

Why does this sound like a crock of shit? Was this back in the 60s or something?
>>
>>90300481
Honestly? At this point they'd be better off just making a new one all together.
Carol ain't gonna happen. That was confirmed for me during the Capcom vs Marvel trailer. And now she can't even sale number 1's any more.
>>
>>90300950
Not chance. Any female character who is just a spin-off of another male character can never fill the Wonder Woman role.
>>
>>90301275
She had a nine volume 50 issue run back in the mid-2000s. That's pretty dang impressive for a character like her.
>>
>>90301326
lol that hardly makes her the biggest thing in Marvel

And not a single one of her books since has gotten even close to that number before relaunching again
>>
>>90301346
Not exactly the biggest thing at marvel, definitely not. But definitely an indicator of who to push if you want a big female character.

But they've fucked it up and every launch she's had since they put her in the new costume has been terrible.
>>
>>90301326
That series was actually the first major push she got after they tested the waters with her in New Avengers and House of M. It's also arguable the most successful of her pushes, saleswise. Prior to that she was a second string Avenger and X-Man. Granted she was linked to X-Men during their heyday.
>>
It's hard to push a waifu that is not a X-men. Marvel should have thought on that way before everyone was in love with a mutant girl. Now they want to get rid of mutants (the most memorable female cast from marvel) and at the same time push another one mixed with a sjw agenda? Never gonna work.
>>
>>90301346
How many solo females have done better?
>>
>>90301179
>that projection
>once the biggest thing in Marvel
>emerging female market
hmmm
>>
Because she's one of their oldest with the most history. While there's tons more interesting varied female characters with with defined arcs and roles It looks good on paper to say "this character has existed since 1967 and is well loved by all."

Also I'm sure having the company name in her hero name probably helps wanting to see her succeed.

Name a character they could use for this that isn't X-Men affiliated. Like it or not, Marvel wants to have their own Wonder Woman and they don't want to overly promote characters owned by Fox in the process.

This question, again? I need to save this response and make it pasta or something.

Who else do they have to be their iconic female hero? Jean Grey? Storm? Rogue? Lets leave out those are all fox film licensed and remember their "X-men" not solo characters. Sue Storm, also a team member.

That's not the only issue. Other female heroes are often really tied to their team or husband. Scarlet Witch with Avengers and Vision, Wasp with Pym and Avengers. Black Widow, not really a "super" hero, she fills a different niche and isn't always a "hero" So they have..... Spider-woman? She-Hulk? Again, female version of a male hero, they'll use her, but marvel wants a front and center female icon.

They DO need a wonder woman, they just are going about it wrong. Wonder woman is like any other hero, but a women. Marvel always makes their women "women" first and heroes later. Carol needs a male non-super, non-hero b/f like Steve Trevor. Peter has MJ and Gwen. Bruce has Betty. Clark has Lois. They just keep fucking the fuck up with Carol. If you're going to push a character push them right.

Carol is still associated with a male version of her name, but she is pretty far removed from that now.

This all may seem like superflous things, but it's all foundation and water-cooler type talk for casuals or normies. Everyone knows Superman is weak to kryptonite, or spider-man gotten bitten to get his powers. No one really knows jack shit about Wonder Woman, but they know she's not Supermans Wife or Girl friend, she's her own thing. Carol though? Fucking forget it....

They wanted something unique from their heroes and DC heroes. I think they should have looked into Hellcat or Sif or Crystal but it still comes down to a brand and marketing, these names, the costumes and ect. "Captain Marvel" was a huge fuck you to DC. They pushed her so hard DC calls their "Shazam!" now.

I still think they went about it all wrong and I miss the old carol a good deal.
>>
>>90301705
This. A solo female superhero film is already considered a risky enough venture by most film companies. A solo black female with no connections to established superheroes for fans to use as scaffolding is just too much of a chance of failure.

wut. DC has been calling him shazam long before Marvel started pushing carol
>>

The character was still Captain Marvel till 2011. The character is now called Shazam and NOT referred to as Captain Marvel. They started pushing Carol after House of M back in 2006.
>>
>>90302210
But they didn't make Carol captain marvel until 2012. Shazam's name change has more to do with people referring to Billy by that name
>>
>>90300814
I don't know why. Spiderman has been their top guy for years and he's not really like either Superman or Batman. Besides, Kamala can do more to appeal to the young female audience who prefer a self insert over role model.

>>
>>90300868

These are characters made for a team book, what do you expect?
And there's never been any real ongoing for any X-Man other than Logan, everything else has been a miniseries with one storyline.
And almost every X-Man has had one:
Gambit twice (!),
Bishop,
Emma Frost ( I still need to read that ),
Mystique,
Storm ( hers wasn't bad ),
Dazzler's was one of the very first,
Iceman's about to get his second,
Nightcrawler,
Cyclops ... sorta... twice.

>Clearly MCU didn't think this trough

Marvel Comics itself renamed Carol as Captain Marvel in around 2012. The movie didn't get announced until 2014 and Marvel really wanted to push Carol Danvers. Feige meanwhile wanted to do a superheroine film but Perlmutter refused because he didn't believe superheroine films would sell in box office or toys. Feige and Perlmutter managed to sort of come to an agreement in that Captain Marvel would get made as Feige desired while Inhumans would also get made as Perlmutter desired.
>>
>>90303781
They're getting a lot better with the movies.
I remember the piss-poor synergy they tried to pull off with the X-Men comics when those first three came out, I had to stop reading for a while.
They made the disastrous mistake of trying to make the comics conform to the movies.

These days, if you look closely, you can spot foreshadowing for the comics in the movies and the synergy is limited to gawdawful, but temporary, themed crossovers.
>>
I have a pet theory that they were originally going to ease up on the Carol shilling when they announced Janethor, and they were going to try and make her their Wonder Woman.

But between Jane selling like powdered water, and everyone not giving a shit pretty much a month after she appeared, they were stuck with Carol again.
>>

>>
>>90300400
In all fairness, Carol does probably make the most sense as one to push (suitable powerset, not tied up in anyone else's rights, not just a female version of a better known male character), but they fucked it up by sanitising all the interesting traits out of her in favour of Yaas Queen Slay.
>>
>>90304075

>>
>>90303970
Doubt it, Captain Marvel got announced as a film in 2014 so they had to have been thinking about it as far back as at least 2013. And remember that was Feige's pet project.

Plus on top of that Jane as Thor actually sold decently until the relaunch.

Jane Thor might be more of a way to put Natalie Portman in a starring role in case Perlmutter doesn't wan't to pay Chris Hemsworth more money.

Carol was fun there. Also the wacky misadventures of Carol and Jessica. Marvel just stripped the fun and interesting parts out of her character (Ex-Military, former Alcoholic, screw up trying to make right) and books to please people never interested in her in the first place. And the cringeworthy marketing.

Marvel can't just make her their Wonder Woman as Wondy has mythos developed for decades along with the mythos they derive from Greek culture that affected her character development over years and has lead to constant reinvention and fresh ideas like Johns, Azzarello and Morrison's runs. Carol doesn't have that sort of legacy but the interesting history they have with her they want to delete for a blank slate (House of ideas, my ass) even though the current book is gingerly small steps forward (Like everyone in the hero community hating Carol so much she has to stay in Space most of the time to get yelled at by Abigal Brand)

Storm, Kurt and Scott's recent books were glorified Stealth minis, I doubt Marvel planed for any of them to go past Secret Wars as they taking chainsaw to X-Franchise at that moment.

Dazzler's book came before she joined the X-Men, it doesn't get really mutant heavy until the end when begin to fold into the team.

>>90300400
>The excuse of "we need our own Wonder Woman" doesn't make any sense, because why not use a female character that people actually liked well before this?

The problem with that is that Marvel has no unique female characters; Classic Carol was really it. Characters like Scarlet Witch and Storm are tied to the X-men, She-hulk and Spider Woman are considered derivative of male heroes (Yes, I know Jessica isn't a Spider-man character, but they don't want to risk confusing the brands.) Even if there are minor female characters they could use (like, I dunno, Satana?) they're even more literal whos than Carol is. She's at least got history with the Avengers (which, remember, was always a garbage dump title for characters who couldn't carry books of their own.) And even though Carol is derivative of Mar-vell they've just written him out of continuity and prayed nobody notices.

Plus you've got to remember, Marvel is trying very hard to ape DC's concept of the Trinity. Thor is in a weird place because despite being Marvel's only character that sells in trades, his movies do relatively poorly. Since he's also based on a public domain concept they can't trademark, anybody could make a Thor movie to compete with them, so he's been shuffled out of Marvel's big three in favor of Carol.

Finally, Carol is very important to Marvel because she carries the "Captain Marvel" name. Remember, Marvel has been playing keep away with DC for Captain Marvel's for decades. They desperately want a Marvel "Captain Marvel' title to stick in the public consciousness so that DC can never try to reclaim it.

This question is retarded. Why is it retarded? Because it assumes Marvel needs an iconic female hero. Guess what. They don't need one. And the fact that Carol isn't working just proves that they should never have tried to make her something she isn't.

Her movie will likely do well. As well as Dr Strange did. Social media will push it as the greatest thing ever in order to satisfy their agenda. /co/ and /tv/ will shitpost about it for weeks, drawing comparisons to the Wonder Woman movie. But at the end of the day, Carol will still not be iconic, and her movie will be forgotten just like the rest of the MCU.

Some people like to say that Carol was the best they had left. That's bullshit of course.

She was originally pushed because she was a hot blonde with a slutty costume. They already had plenty of redheads doing the odd mini-series and Elektra had the brunettes covered.

Because they needed to screw DC of the trademark and Disney wanted to pander to the SJW crowd, they covered her up, cut her hair and renamed her Captain Marvel.

The comics should just strip her of the name and dump this train wreck of a character. Carol's powers are boring, she is a bitchy attention whore, her new costume sucks ass and her sales are pathetic. All they really care about is the trademark anyway. Even the movies are rumored to be dumping most of her fucked up origin.

From the outside, it looks like MCU is walking away from love interests. Thor 2 was basically one strange attempt at romantic focus, and it was considered weak.

>Because it assumes Marvel needs an iconic female hero. Guess what. They don't need one

You really don't know what retarded is do you? Cause you're being it right now, like perfectly. IT IS A COMPETITION. They are in direct competition in the market with DC. There is demand and a market for female heroes. They don't need one.....? It's still a business you pants-crapping dumb shit. Why would they bend over and let the market go to their competitor? They want people to like their brand, their hero, buy their stuff and be connected to their universe. I mean, Im trying to explain this all to you, and im sure you'll make some dumb retort about how they should focus on the characters they have and how carol isn't on the level of wonder woman and never will be and all this garbage that treats comic characters based on the quality of their comic. Which means you really don't fucking get it.

If in 10 years marvel sells a bunch of halloween costumes of captain marvel, and starts selling sexy captain marvel corsets, and there's more and more carol toys and stickers and shit, that's fucking progress, that's what they WANT. To sell shit. I don't disagree they're going about it wrong, but they're here to make money and sell shit, they don't always care about integrity. You don't just let your competitor have a market in business, but you clearly do not get that.

Anon, all the other female heroes are derived out of (or risk being assumed to be, in the case of Jessica Drew) male characters or franchises that have been successfully established in the consciousness of the mass audience by the movies, and most of whom they have rights issues over anyway.

Carol's predecessor has been practically retconned out of existence with how unimportant he is, and most importantly a movie can establish her as "her own hero" by just going "she got her powers from an alien" and glossing right over Mar-Vell.

The difference is pretty clear.

I get why Wonder Woman is the standard, but is that because Wonder Woman is a great female character, or because she's DC's ONLY prominent female character?

Reminder that although The Avengers also have a singular female on the team, though she didn't even get her own movie (which actually would have been a refreshing break from CAPE capeshit). I can still name way more Marvel females than DC females. This is coming from a longtime DCfag.

Marvel shouldn't be trying to make her their Wonder Woman, or their Supergirl, just one of many their prominent, balanced female heros.

Man of Steel (2013) tried way too hard to make Lois look like a badass and it made her look like an insecure girl with penis envy. That's what happens when you try too hard with just one character.

Marvel should be pushing multiple female heros. Wouldn't want the Avengers Mansion to be a sausagefest, “Well, if you’re not fully utilizing half the talent in the country,” Gates said, “you’re not going to get too close to the Top 10.” Only way you're getting the girls ot buy tickets is to make the Avengers into Magic Mike, and nobody wants that except OP :^) Or to be mutieless, which is where all of Marvel's best females, IMO, are at. www.youtube.com/watch?v=9QO35fQjR8c

>consumer thinking they know business

Exactly the type of response I expected on /co/

>>90314636
>see microsoft

what.... no no no no......no

These do not compare. Its the marvel brand as a whole. Their brand lacked that asset. Its like getting a milk shake from a burger place. Lots and lots of customer don't care. They like the fries and burgers, but if they want a milkshake, they have to go to a place that has them. That's the market share they lose out on. When you have everything, yes you may lose out on quality of each individual product, but you are able to service the demands of every consumer. You will (in theory) get more customers.

I think too many people on here look at Carol and the comics and what they did with the content and don't stop and really think....

>So why is Marvel trying to push Carol so hard?

That's the question, if you don't understand why, you're pretty helpless.
>>
>>90316722
It helps that Captain Marvel is historically a Panther/Strange tier brandname for Marvel.
We'd be due the movie anyway. The fact that the best-known, longest-enduring, and thus most-developed character to come out of that branddname happens to be a chick is a pleasant coincidence they're taking full advantage of.
If Carol's comic history were exactly the same as it is minus any & all connection to Mar-Vell she'd not be much better than Hellcat or Mantis or Spider-Woman. But it is there, and it's pretty fuckin' blatant. I don't get why /co/ acts so igna'nt of it. They don't even choose the right AltGurl FFS.
>>
>>90300481
She Hulk. All the pieces are there. But she's too sexually active and light hearted for the modern age. Also she's green.
>>
I've noticed that the MCU is doing the Ultimate Universe while simultaneously trying to sweep all the dirty bits (which hurt to, but you do need to, expose to the sun for healing and character development and growth) under the rug.

I keep hearing from /co/ that they're changing the origin to gloss over Mar-Vell. This concerns me.

The fact is, if you change the Origin then you're dangerously close to doing an Elseworlds. It seems so simple to me how to get a Comic Book Movie to sell big: Stay true to the comics and the True Believers will tell their friends how faithful it is to the original material, and the normies will parrot that to the other normies. And of course, many Professional Critics are retards and nobody should listen to them.

Marvel went through two cycles of creating a lot of original female characters. One was the '60s, when all the women were part of teams and they were all a little old-fashioned anyway.

Stan seemed to think Medusa was the best bet for a solo spinoff, I'm not sure why, maybe because she's tougher than the others? But it never went anywhere. Then they gave Black Widow the Emma Peel catsuit and gave her a solo feature, but it only lasted a few months.

Then from the late '70s, Chris Claremont was co-creating tons of women characters but they were all part of the X-Men.

That leaves Carol as the default choice because her series was consciously created from a "we need a woman solo superhero star" position. (Management just wanted a "women's lib superheroine" and the writers all submitted pitches for who she would be; Gerry Conway pitched that Carol should get Mar-Vell's powers.)

Her series wasn't a hit but it lasted two years and Claremont managed to give her a hint of a personality and even a rogue's gallery, though the MCU can't use them (because he 'ported her villains, Mystique and Deathbird, over to the X-Men). She's all they got, because most of their other women are team characters who would have to be rethought to make them solo stars.

I wont argue most comic book writers are lazy hacks, but lets stop pretending women buy cape comics and are sizable buying force. If it was like that, neither dc nor marvel would be pedalling back from all that sjw pandering from a couple years ago. The biggest demographic is males. Not even white males, but males in general. There is 10 males for every woman in almost any comic convention, but that lone woman wants all comics to pander to her. Thats why marvel is in the shitter and DC struggled more than they should.

Keep Mar-Vell dead but bring back Phyla and genis, that way you have the three vell kids hanging out and Teddy getting his time to shine without Billy.

You also get Monica, Nohr, and Kamala having space adventures (Kamala uses a porter so she can go back and resume high school or whatever).

Carol can be the leader but she also has to deal with Genis being an asshole and Phyla fucking up but they all also have to deal with her shit.

They all do cosmic stuff and shit.

I would be down for that instead of Carol with her oh so quirky cat dumb shit Marvel tries to sell us constantly that neve rworks.

>Somewhat amusingly, the latter list shows that amongst the businesses and other elements that you’d expect to go hand-in-hand with Spider-Man, such as the Daily Bugle and Oscorp, Sony also got the exclusive rights to the Animal Liberation Front (???) plus a couple of dubiously-named rock bands (Molten Man and Razor and the Shriekers), a group of Canadian Bicycle Safety Promoters called “The Right-Riders” and they also got custody of the Spider-mobile.

Oh man they actually remembered those Canadian PSA comics. I think Dwayne McDuffie wrote at least one of them.

>There’s also third schedule listing “frozen” characters, etc. which neither Sony nor Marvel can use, at least for the time-being, some of which are parodies and character mash-ups, e.g. Spider-Ham, Spider-Hulk, Spider-Thor, and there’s a general rule that any future mash-up characters that Marvel might create are also automatically frozen which uses the example of a Spider-Wolverine. The frozen list also covers characters like the Ashley Barton and Kitty Pryde versions of Spider-Girl and Spider-Boy 2099 (Mig-El Gand) where there are also significant rights issues, and a longish list of characters that were created specifically for Spider-Man and Spider-Woman animated series between the late 1960s and the early 1980s. There’s also note relating to several frozen characters and all the characters from the animated TV shows to the effect that if Marvel can ever manage to sort out the rights to those characters then they’ll add them to Sony’s exclusive package.

Huh, I wonder if this is why they're pushing Gwenpool on the mobile games? Sure, she turned out not to be a Gwen Stacy but she was created as part of the Gwen Stacy cover variant theme.
>>
>>90324629
>Yes, in addition to the Parker Classic version of Spidey and the 32 officially recognised alternative versions, which incidentally includes Miles Morales who’s mentioned by name, Sony also got eight different versions of Spider-Woman (including Jessica Drew and the new Gwen Stacy “Spider-Gwen” version) three versions of Spider-Girl and Silk (Cindy Moon) would be covered by the same provisions as Spider-Gwen which gives Sony the rights to any new Spider-Man related characters created after the agreement.

Hey wait a minute. Remember when Robbi Rodriguez said they weren't allowed to create new characters in the Spider-Gwen comic?

Wonder Woman is roughly as strong as the story calls for, same as Superman.
So that's totally impossible to judge accurately.

However, since by default every DC character is "the absolute fastest/strongest/bestest" until their nemesis "fasterer/strongerer/mostbestest" shows up, I have to give it to Diana.

This. Along with Miles and Sam, she's just made it straight onto the Avengers without any of them having to pay their dues or prove themselves to the older generation. Instead, all the older heroes instantly love them and keep telling them how important they are.

Champions turning her into Marvel's own Lisa Simpson isn't helping.

Did you forget that she's the daughter of Peter Parker, who is currently a teenager right now in the MCU? The only way Spider-Girl could be done in the MCU at this point in time would be to set it in the future, which I don't see working out well. However I would be totally up for MCU Mayday after Tom Holland is done playing Spider-Man. Would also love to see the salty tears of butthurt Miles fans because Marvel decided to use her instead of Miles to succeed Peter in the MCU.

They also own Spider-Man's movie rights yet he's in the MCU and he's getting a series of movies so don't see how that would be a problem. Though it's also way too early to put Mayday in the MCU, considering her father is still a teenager in high school and hasn't even met MJ yet.

>And even though Carol is derivative of Mar-vell they've just written him out of continuity and prayed nobody notices.

I think the thing is that Mar-Vell died and stayed dead for nearly 35 years. And even while he was alive he never really made it outside of comics. I mean look at what media appearances he has on his wiki:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Captain_Marvel_(Mar-Vell)

>Captain Marvel appears in The Super Hero Squad Show two-part episode "Another Order of Evil", voiced by Ty Burrell. He is established as Ms. Marvel's boyfriend.
>Mar-Vell appears in The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes episodes "459", "Welcome to the Kree Empire", "Assault on 42", "Operation: Galactic Storm", and "Live Kree or Die", voiced by Roger Craig Smith. In this story, he is a xenobiologist who came to Earth to investigate a genetic anomaly, pretending to be a human named Philip Lawson but ended up intrigued by humanity (and implicitly in love with Carol Danvers). When a Kree robot came to evaluate Earth's threat to the Kree, he sacrificed his false identity to save Carol, Wasp and Ant-Man, and in so doing accidentally duplicated some Kree powers to Carol. He assisted the Avengers in destroying the robot, nearly dying in the process, and left for the Kree homeworld to bargain on humanity's behalf. He was not successful, since the Kree later invaded, and Mar-Vell begged the Avengers to peacefully surrender, believing it to be Earth's only hope for survival. He was imprisoned along with Ronan the Accuser in Prison 42. Later he accompanied the Avengers to the Kree Empire in a last-ditch effort to intervene on humanity's behalf. After the shut down of the Supreme Intelligence, he became the new Kree leader.

>Captain Marvel is a playable character in Marvel Super Hero Squad Online.
>Captain Marvel is a playable character in the PSP version of Marvel: Ultimate Alliance.
>Mar-Vell is playable as an enhanced costume for the Ms. Marvel character in Marvel Heroes.

A glimpse into the future

Wonder Woman movie will underperform, then there will be rumors that Disney brass is "concerned" about Cap Marvel.

Paid-off propaganda media will shout this down and shame lecture everyone about how great Carol is and besides Marvel (Iron Man 2) Movies (Thor 2) Are (Iron Man 3) Never (Incredible Hulk) Bad (Avengers 2).

Captain Marvel will come out and not even do Wonder Woman numbers. Media will throw hissyfit, blame the audience for not seeing it 3x each, and eventually also say that Russia hacked the box office

>Captain Marvel will come out and not even do Wonder Woman numbers. Media will throw hissyfit, blame the audience for not seeing it 3x each, and eventually also say that Russia hacked the box office
This sounds identical to all the "Capshit will collapse soon" posts.

It never ceases to amaze me how many humans out there would prefer to burn everything to the ground, rather than admitting the side they picked lost. Look, making movies is hard, and making comicbook movies is harder. But trying to claim that "At least WW wouldn't fail as badly as Captain Marvel" is really a desperate sign.

Even if Captain Marvel failed, that still doesn't make Wonderwoman look better as a film by proxy. That shit doesn't work that way. If you want to do that then you might as well compare WW to the Electra and the Catwoman films.

She was NEVER the biggest thing in Marvel.

Spiderman has always been head, shoulders, knees and toes taller than Ms. Marvel. For a period, Spiderman was bigger than Superman or Batman.
Following Spiderman was maybe Captain America, Iron Man, and a distant third being Hulk.

So naturally they axed all four of them, put legacy characters in their place, and prayed someone would pick up on Carol.
