The story so far (up to and including issue 5):

Loma is an alien from a planet named Meta that harnessed the power of Madness. She is a fan of the previous user of the M-Vest, and stole it one day. She possessed the body of a braindead girl, and has tried to integrate into the high school setting. This backfires, and the body she is possessing (megan) is one of the Queen Bitch of the school. At this point, it is still a mystery if the people at the lake that night intentionally tried to kill her, or if they just neglected to help her at all. Teacup is the main unknown factor here, because she came to the party late, and has a weird history of hate/envy with Megan. Megan has a huge box in her room dedicated to her. At the end of the 5th issue, Megan flew down from space and started wrestling Shade for control of her body. The story arc wraps up on Wednesday

As weird as this seems, the 1990s Shade was way, way, more confusing

This series is a giant pain in the ass to find. DC released three trades of the first 19 issues a few years back, but cancelled the rest. The series was 70 issues long, and the rest is only in singles or digital copies.

The original Shade series from Ditko was said to take place on Earth-85. It is presumed that Milligan's series was in the general Vertigo universe that came into being in the 1990s, even though Vertigo was not really a thing until issue 33 of the Milligan series. I don't think that Delirium ever interacted with anyone in this, but Death apparently had a cameo.

The madness vest took the form of a coat in the Milligan series, and seems to resemble some kind of a shawl in this. It leaks madness a lot, which is why the bedsheets looked like it for a bit, mostly because Loma has no idea how to actually control it.


Images from the books seem to have leaked out of them when Loma/Megan became aware of Teacup hiding from the other girls (under the table). People seem to be taking the madness visions pretty calmly for the most part, so I personally believe that Loma sees them more clearly than others.


With the books, we can see Moby Dick (white wale), a cyclops (The Odyssey), Hamlet (a skull), a raven (The Raven), and the Cheshire Cat (Alice in Wonderland). I just realized now that all of those books deal with Madness in different forms, which is obvious in retrospect

I was thinking, in fiction story such as this, when a person who 's body being taking over by outer force who has history and memories of it's own, but because of the body snatching, it gang the host's memories and feeling as well, can that person still be conciser the same person , just with different personality or not ?
