Full disclosure I have loved Isher since the first panel she showed up in which by extension makes her my best girl, which should hopefully contradict the observed site politics but

I have never liked Yannit because she sounded too deviantart-y and also her head of hair annoyed the hell out of me. I look forward to seeing how she overcomes the hive-leaving insanity issue and also Indrel bio-lore, though.
>>
>>90296636
Yannit is a like a weeaboo who ditches everything to visit Japan, she's a humanaboo.

If Vizlet and Yannit ever met, that would be interesting, them sharing their love for everything human.
>>
>>90296636
>how she overcomes the hive-leaving insanity
She seems to be the only indrel that can use English so I think that simply the fact that she can communicate with the people around her would help her get over it. I'm guessing part of the reason why the first indrel went insane is because it couldn't communicate with anyone and them being an extremely social species it is probably for that reason that it went insane.

I really hope Yannit doesn't go insane, frankly I quite love her.

These threads have higher discussion standards, attract (the right kind of) new readers, and defend the comic's reputation as something more than just a fetish rag, which it is.

If we migrated to /trash/, I'm not full of myself enough to believe it would ruin the comic, but there would definitely be a drop in reader expectations which would cause a drop in quality for the comic itself.

Also, the prequel and OOP fanbases are NOT EVEN CLOSE in shittiness, but you can tell a clear drop in quality between ye olde /co/ prequel threads and the current /trash/ threads. Is this the future you want for the yinglet race?
>>

I'd say slavs, just because scavs tend to work scavenging. It's more or less axiomatic that a chav is on benefit. Also the low squat of the slav is more like the posture of the scav, than the chav huddle.

Did I deny the whole "weird category" thing? why are you answering my post as if I did? You shouldn't make statements like "They don't feed their young milk either" because you don't know that. "...she will pass a clutch of 4-8 egs, which will be cared for and raised by the whole enclave..." doesn't directly deny that they feed their offspring milk. Maybe there are dedicated babysitter nurses, who still bring hatchlings back to the mother for suckling in the first couple of days.
>>
>>90305650
What are we even arguing about here anymore? Is it whether or not yinglets produce milk, or is it whether they're mammals or not?
Sure, I assumed that they don't produce milk without Val's confirmation to back it up, Sue me. But would I not be right to do that, since A) The children aren't cared for by their parents like almost all other mammals, B) They're not even technically mammals, nor any other known biologicl cathegory, and C) They don't have nipples. (This may be an artistic touch since Val wanted the comic to be SFW, but still)
You also don't need to act so hostile. This isn't /v/ or /b/.

>What are we even arguing about here anymore? Is it whether or not yinglets produce milk, or is it whether they're mammals or not?

well the OP question to this discussion (>>90304942) was "whether they were mammals?". However we talking a fantasy setting here, with giant lizards and bugs serving as beasts of burden, humanoid ants and shit.

Yinglets can (and most probably are) mammals, even if they are really weird ones. The mammals of this universe can be even broader thing than in our (and our do include egg-laying ones). I understand Val's statement more along the lines of not putting y. into any specific family (cats, dogs, bats, wales), rather than class (mammals, birds, reptiles) or kingdom (I guess we don't need to argue that they are not mushrooms?). There is a great number of mammals who delegate caring for their young to the whole group, like meerkats for example who resemble yinglets very closely both in appearance, metabolism and behavior.

I'm not hostile, just short-tempered and this is still 4chan.

I think patriarchs normally get some whenever they want, anyone below them would have to petition and then be picked by the matriarch. That's a good question anon.

All we know for certain is that the last of her kind to be exiled to the city up and went berserk one day, and nobody knows the true reason - it was just assumed that hive separation was what caused it.

Personally, I think that she probably wasn't that stable to begin with (hence why she was exiled) and being unable to communicate properly was what pushed her over the edge. But since Yannit can speak, this won't be a problem.

Worst-case scenario, she needs to be talked through a bout of sudden depression, maybe with some herbal remedies to substitute for missing pheromones.

Actually, that seems pretty likely since the author has been in a similar sitiation and even made a comic about it IIRC.
>>
>>90307390
yeah, Yannit's plotline is going to District 9 lite.
>>
>>90307453
>last of her kind to be exiled
I thought he just wandered into the city one day. nobody said he was also exiled. And Yannit (according to her own account) deliberately made them to exile her - probably thrown a rotten mushroom at the queen or something.
>>
>>90307524
>I thought he just wandered into the city one day. nobody said he was also exiled.
The fact that Yannit had to get herself exiled to leave implies that no Indrel can leave the hive unless exiled.

and I always thought it went this way:

Vizzlet had ze zhing all along from the former matriarch and even knew what it supposed to do (or at least she was left with a vague message that goes like this: "use it when the clan is down to its last female" - which would explain why she didn't put 2 & 2 together the first time she met Kass). But being so rational she just discarded it and hid it away and forgot all about it. One day a nonnative yiglet (a spy from another clan, the eye-eating one) successfully retrieves it but is discovered and is being chased, he drops it by Lopin. From this point on we know what happened. Narklett is either sent by the same clan and the eye-eater is his hench[s]man[/s]yinglet or by a third one, that also has interest in zis zhings.

I mean the eye-eater guy could be just a forager who's stumbled upon it, but for this to be true he is too eager to keep it at all costs, isn't he? I mean he has clan's elites on his tail - any other yinglet would surrender whatever he got, especially if it isn't something you can't eat or guaranteed to convert into food...

So... Theory time. (Inspiration from pic related.)

Suppose an alien spaceship crashed into the planet a long time ago, carrying some sufficiently advanced technology that managed to survive the impact - in particular, nanobots (of a medical or terraforming variety).

Let's assume there is a central core which these nanobots get their "target template" from. For whatever reason, the core saw the Lesser Yinglet and decided to uplift it (perhaps it was damaged and attempted to fill in the missing data with what was available). The nanobots around the core quickly converted a very large number of Yinglets, leading to the sudden rise of Greater Yinglets and fall of Lesser Yinglets.

The Shiny Thing was a nanobot container which got separated from the main core during the crash, but survived and received the new template. For some reason, the nanobots decided that a human was an acceptable target and deployed to 'convert' him. (Maybe humans are close to the original species the nanobots were made for?)

>>
>>90313078
well, that would make some sense in case of lesser yinglets -> greater yinglets. but how does it explain human -> greater yinglet? I mean in the nanoshit upgrades lesser y's - it downgrades humans. Kass starts laughing at fart jokes, when if your theory is true he should have became a genius.

If lesser yinglets have 5 IQ and the aliens have 140 (I mean they are space faring species, right?), than the median is 77ish which is pretty close to a greater yinglet. if a human with 90 IQ (Kass) is spliced with 140 the result should be 115... but he is more like 85 and getting dumber each day.

No, it looks like zhings produce greater yinglets ang greater yinglets alone. and they do not strike me as godlike aliens, even as savage ones.

That anon was joking.

Val said it was a comission comic. Its partly non-canon, although didn't elaborate on how much that I have seen. Some people claimed he specified what parts but I refuse to believe it unless they link it in the archive.
>>
>>90313878

>>
>>90313661
Kass has Yinglet instincts, like eating the moth, but retained his actual learned knowledge. Val stated Vizlet still finds farting mildly funny but not to the point she'll ever laugh out loud from it.

>>90313878
Kass was a merchants' son before the war, while Elim was a farmer's son. That's why Kass has schooling.
>>
>>90313661
>well, that would make some sense in case of lesser yinglets -> greater yinglets. but how does it explain human -> greater yinglet?
>No, it looks like zhings produce greater yinglets ang greater yinglets alone.
Read what I said again.

The nanobots in my theory have a set "target output" that they are programmed to make: the Greater Yinglet.

The intended "input creature" is a Lesser Yinglet, but for whatever reason Humans are acceptable as well (maybe the nanobots mistakenly think they are malformed and in need of repairs, like in that Doctor Who episode).

In any case, the reason "Greater Yinglet" was set as the output was probably either as part of a deliberate uplifting of the species, or because the original template was damaged and some computer tried to fill in the missing data with a Lesser Yinglet (maybe it thought it was a crewmember).

A third option is that Yinglets actually *were* extraterrestrial and Lessers are a devolution which the nanobots are trying to repair. (Also, that isn't how IQ works. You don't need to be smart to have/use advanced technology.)
>>
>>90313661
>>90313878
Vizlet already explained that yinglets apparent stupidity is a cultural thing, result of their race being so young , not having enough time to develop a culture of their own, and the isolationism promoted by the Elders Council. Vizlet herself is a living example: she is the smartest and cultured yinglet we know yet. She educated herself and reached almost human levels of intelligence.
This gives room for a very interesting question: Is the isolationism of the Elders forced upon yinglets to keep them ignorant and stupid, thus easier to control and influence? Nothing says that Vizlet is the only one trying to expand the yinglets knowledge, so that makes me wonder if we will see other "pro culture exchange" ratbirds. Yinglets in general have a hard-boner for anything human related, at least the ones that live in/near human territory.
>>
>>90313078
Idea: You're right about the source of all this being sufficiently advanced technology, but the stuff which uplifted Yinglets is different to the stuff that hit Kass. If the purpose of the ship was specifically to uplift species than maybe the lesser yinglets got hit with the 'uplift nanogoo' and Kass got hit with something designed to allow members of the mission crew to pass unnoticed amongst the uplifted species by becoming one. This would also suggest that the sufficiently advanced aliens who started all this were humans (hence why Kass was 'recognized' by zat zing) which would fit with them apparently being the oldest most advanced sapient species on the planet.

so basically it is cosmic coincedence that the initial material (lesser y.) for nanofixing was almost identical to the target template (greater y.)? and humans are just compatible? this is a stretch.

this (>>90314443) is a far better idea. but still this would require some information coordination because how does the sealed fluid know what has became the target of infiltration?...

No, I still think that this whole thing is being proactively and consciously manipulated by multiple entities who do have some plan. And given that the planet hosts so many different sapient species: hominids, insectoids, lizardmen, armored snakes (or whatever baxxids are) and now ratbirds... It's almost like a class of juvenile gods making a science fair where everyone has gathered their projects in the same room. What if the kid-god who's project was to evolve lesser ys just procrastinated up until the deadline and now, just "minutes" before the teachers come to his table he steals from other kids their creations and paints them as his own in order to dilute his gene pool with better samples (because his project is so shitty literally everything is better). he could possibly at one point even appear personally in an avatar body to instill the most effective breeding technique - exactly what The Best One did. Replace Gods with Sufficiently Developed Aliens or Ancient Ones or whatever if you don't like the sound of the word "God". And minutes for these creatures are centuries for their creations.

I'd say Vizlet represents what she wants out of Yinglets as a whole
As is, she's at least as smart as the average 'conventionally intelligent' human, in that she's likely smarter than 50% of all humans. She's by no means a genius, but she's very sharp and more than a little savvy politics-wise.

That said she is definitely an outlier, the average Yinglet is, as stated before, roughly on par with a particularly dull child, with smarter ones, such as the patriarchs, being somewhere around early teen level in terms of self awareness.
What Vizlet no doubt wants is to institutionalize a widespread education program, in which the smart Yinglets and the dumb Yinglets will be more easily sorted out. She no doubt plans to breed smart Yinglets with other smart ones while denying or limiting the breeding rights of the subpar Yinglets. In this capacity Yinglets like Vizlet may rise up and become a ruling class of sorts.
To this end, she needs Kass and his connections to the Invenmoths to acquire the educational resources to implement her nefarious education schemes.

Things like QC, CAD, SYAC and stuff have awful art and the artist never attempts to get better.

Then you have things like Penny Arcade, where the art seems to be getting more technical but the style is uglier every page.

>so basically it is cosmic coincedence that the initial material (lesser y.) for nanofixing was almost identical to the target template (greater y.)?
No, I'm saying that the target template (G.Y.) was based upon the first sample (L.Y.), and broadcast wirelessly from a central source to update all the scattered components with that design.

That humans are acceptable as "targets" is harder to explain with this theory, but if
>>90315380
is correct, then humans were probably the original intended target and the data loss/update didn't change enough parameters to exclude them.

Also explains how they knew to find Lopin.

Nark's agent was on the run from Beiz's scouts since he had found something important he wasn't sharing with the Matriarch, Nark's agent planted it on Lopin then later told Nark about it when he lost Beiz's men. Lopin ran, knowing that it would be bad to have sold it but not knowing that instead of an angry eye-eater he had pissed off the fucking Patriarch who oversees 50% of his job.

Now Vizlet is aware of what agent is doing Nark's dirty work, that the object he was trying to sneak out can turn a human into a Yinglet, and that she can willingly complicate life for her race by humans having that knowledge too.
>>
>>90309854
It could mean that Beizel is on Vizlet's side and had his boys scouting out Narklet's boys.
To that end he could have been trying to secure the artifact for Vizlet, seeing as she's easily the smartest/cagiest Yinglet in the enclave.

It makes sense if you see Charming Thief Yinglet as one of Narklet's goons and Beizel's boys were after him to take the zhing for themselves/Vizlet.

nah, these waren't real numbers and real calculations - I was just trying to convey the thought that if you splice via some process a stupid animal and a superbeing and you get e semi-idiotic being, and then use the same process and splice already smart being with the same superbeing and you get basically the same result - then there is probably something more to this process that meets the eye and maybe it is not even the same process.

But since I've misinterpreted what (>>90313078) was saying in the first place - it doesn't matter twice as hard.
>>
>>90317206
To put it in other words, the original nanobot control program was:
>TARGET=HUMAN
>OUTPUT=HUMAN

Then the update went:
>TARGET.ADD(LESSER_YINGLET)
>OUTPUT.SET(GREATER_YINGLET)

So now the program is:
>TARGET=[HUMAN,LESSER_YINGLET]
>OUTPUT=GREATER_YINGLET

There IS a massive gender disparity which would lead to slow population growth under the current societal breeding rules.

They reach sexual maturity ~3 years so imagine how quickly yinglet populations could grow if the male-female ratio were better balanced

I think its to the benefit of the Yinglets that they have such a disparate gender ratio
Think about it:
every female has 4-8 eggs in a clutch, being an egg-laying species they probably have relatively short gestation periods (3-5 months) and, like egglaying species, have multiple estrous cycles per year. This means that a female could produce anywhere from 12-24 chicks per year, the majority of which would reach sexual maturity.
Yinglets are stupid and irresponsible as a species, they're basically Trailer-Trash: the Species in terms of intelligence and reproductive responsibility.
If the M/F ratio was similar to humans, they would suffer from perpetual population explosions and mass die-offs as a result.
As they are now, with rare females and a cultural system in place to mitigate breeding, they're as close as they're going to get to reasonable population management

As another point, the reason that meteoric iron AKA a meteor full of iron AKA starmetal was important in Japanese folkore (which mostly came from the 1600's) is that lack of good metal.

Bronze age civilizations (as in BC years) cherished starmetal since they couldn't mine or smelt iron, King Tut's own personal dagger was starmetal for example.

Once ironsmithing was a thing, starmetal became a curiosity and little else. Like today, its just something dorky for astronomers to have on their desk or jewelers to upcharge cheap jewelry using.

As for the angle, that's sort of a persistent issue with the comic and how Val handles perspective. He's still learning and foreshortening and depth are difficult as fuck to get the hang of.

Seriously, fuck perspective, it's right up there with conveying motion in terms of difficulty to master

Multiple comics are spent describing how the flagship race regularly engages in casual unprotected gay sex, and idolize the homosexual receivers to positions of power. Also the main character, mentally male, has found himself attracted to males and the thought of being bred like a pig.
>>
Neat world-building in this multi-species low-fantasy setting but the dialogue and characterization are semi-shit and those info-dump pages are often enough either contradicted (whatshisname busted into the females' chamber but didn't get torn apart for it) or jumping the gun (info about yinglet sex before MC-chan hears it, being told these ridiculous dinosaur-crane-tarsier-fox-rat things know effective group combat techniques).

The pacing's also a bit slow. The yinglet village bit went on forever.

This is a problem with webcomics as a medium. I only just got into this comic in December, so I binged the whole thing in a night. Since I wasn't waiting on pages, the Yinglet village passed quickly and didn't feel like it dragged at all.

Hm, I'd say fairly so but unlike certain 'tumblrshit' the gayness isn't intrusive. It's kind of just there in the background, and doesn't really affect the main plot.

Oh, there was one comic where a side character explains a bit more than what one might want to know, but it's silly enough to laugh off and I get the impression it only exists because the fans demanded it.

This I just can't agree with as an archive reader. I think every webcomic I've ever read archivally has ended up losing me somewhere along the way; homestuck I stopped reading for about 3 years, prequel for about 8 months, hell I still haven't finished poppy.

Vals update schedule has been loose as fuck and I'm sure that's frustrating as an update reader, but the whole thing kept my attention for the couple of hours it took to read (I almost stopped reading on prologue page 1, otherwise it was straightforward).

And by the way I have never understood TF and didn't want to fuck the trash storks until long after reading so that wasn't why I stayed.

Vizz's personality synopsis is that she is a major tight-ass and sort of a bitch, mostly due to a life of studying things no one around her cared about and never being as pretty as the other females. She's pretty bitter about it (which you can see with how she treats kass and the dreams) and being the smartest individual in the dumbest species has given her a false sense of confidence/smug superiority which will probably end with her being taken down a peg (if she hasn't been already). It's not Shakespeare, but there's substance to be found in her character.

Now, Elim's character is the least substantial of all of them. He is capable, understanding, reasonable, powerful and lacks any antisocial quirks (which the rest of the cast has in spades). Something doesn't add up (maybe Val didn't want the only human character to have an overpowering gimmick make them unrelatable and went too far in the other direction?)
>>
>>90339878

You know I was thinking about the whole Yinglet human lifespan disparity and came to a horrible realization of what it would be like for a child growing up in a home with a house Yinglet.

I mean think of how hard it was to lose your first beloved pet and then imagine that said pet was intelligent enough to be more like a best friend/full family member. Then imagine what it would be like to lose them to old age just as you're entering adulthood.

I would assume their heart rate is somewhere between 150 and 250 and they weigh between 5 and 15 kg. I would say its more like 20y.ish. Especially if they become full fledged adults around 3yo IIRC - 30y. would be like >160-180 y. for humans (10xMaturity age). >>
>>90342951

>>
>>90342951
Early 20s, probably. 30 would be old-as-fuck, to the point where she probably wouldn't be able to live on her own. Also, figgins started getting white/gray hair which hadn't quite set in for vislet yet.

Of course, the length of a val salian year can't be equal in length to an earth year, so I wonder how close any numerical estimate of anyone's age could possibly be.
>>
>>90343060
>the length of a val salian year can't be equal in length to an earth year
Why would you think that? Based on the map? The map is just of the "known world" relative to what is available to the characters.
>>
>>90343156
Judging by local flora, fauna, the nebula in the sky, and multiple moons, I would assume that this is not earth.

The absolute length of 1 year (1 revolution around the star) in some absolute units (let's say seconds) depends on a handful of factors: the size of the star, the distance of the planet from that star, and the angular speed of the planet. In order for the absolute length of an earth year in seconds to equal the length of this planets years in seconds, some major coincidental numbers would have to be met. The most probable outcome is that the two are not equal, and so any age comparisons with earth ages are pointless.
>>
>>90343442
I think you're thinking too much into this when it's already been stated before that a human who makes it into their 30s (or was it 40s?) is considered to have lived a long life with he current level of society and technological progress in this setting.
>>
>>90343442
That's all true, but isn't that just reading a little too much into it? Their planet doesn't revolve around their sun in the same time as ours, but our measurement of a year would still apply for our own frame of reference.

Same way that the US doesn't use metric, but that doesn't mean that measuring of speed in kilometers stops working when someone drives a car in the states.
>>
>>90343656
>>90343647
I think I'm just holding out hope that we will get in-universe time units, similar to how TES records time.

Also, that Val will finally confirm vizlet's age with a hard number (or at least range). I think this question has been asked several times in the last couple of threads.
>>
>>90343891
She probably does not even know her exact age. Yinglets might not have adapted the same calendar humans use, if humans even use those in this setting.

And given what little information we have of the known world around them, there might even be a standard human calendar in place across the different kingdoms, empires, united tribes, and what have you.

To the common yinglet, they probably only know that time is passing because half of the day is dark.
>>
>>90343891
if the humanization doesn't flatter her - she should be nearing her 50s. thats like 2/3 of human normal lifespan. so whatever yiglet max age may be - she doesn't have very long left...
>>
>>90343442
Even if it's a different planet a) that does not necessarily mean it has a different period of rotation (though it is likely), and b) Even if it does as >>90343656 pointed out we don't know how they measure time.

nobody knows yet. these numbers are all estimates based on their size and increased heartbeat rate compared to humans. 100bpm can mean 10 years if yinglets, like humans, do ~2bn heartbeats per lifetime. also if females are 1:8 rarer - it would make sense for them live much longer than males. The closer you are to the equator, the less winter exists.

Winter is totally random here is my point. You can't tell time based on the seasons reliably.
>>
>>90344642
Maybe if you didn't live in a climate-controlled house, then it would be more obvious when it gets colder outside and there's less food to go around?

I mean, even at the equator, there are still regular rainy/dry seasons to count by.
>>
>>90344942
There used to be a rainy season, you used to be able to set your clock to the 4 o'clock rain storms in the summer, but that hasn't been so in many many years.

Again, my point is counting winters doesn't give you an accurate year count because the climate is all kinds of stupid and doesn't adhere to the simplified 4 seasons model you see across all of fiction.

Well, I assume Elim is gonna start showing signs of stress soon

It was originally just Kassan and Elim (with Isher on outskirts). The two of them were close and supported one another

Now it's Kasslet, Elim, Isher, Yannit. Kasslet is in a very clearly bad place right now, which means Elim is doing the supporting for both. Elim's own world has been turned upside down by this, so he's got his own burden. Isher and Yannit aren't a great deal of help since they're goofs.

Not to mention the biggest trouble he had before was poorly executed banditry attempts. Now him and his best friend are under the eyes of the Trademaster.

TLDR - if someone snaps under stress, good chances it isn't gonna be Kass.

I mean, he was like what, 30 as a human? If he's 5 as a Yinglet, there's a pretty decent chance he actually gained years, depending on medical technology and nutrition.
>>
>>90347926
Equivalent of his human biological age, so 8-10 years old, probably.
Old enough to maintain coherent thought, but not quite mature enough to be in complete control
>>
>>90348927
More like 18 - 23 as a human.

30 is considered an old man here, or at least someone very lucky.
>>
>>90348813
He's lucky to be alive at all since deserting and knows it. He also earned the potential to have a way larger impact on the world than if he just stayed some schlub running odd jobs for the house out of what appeared to be pity.

>>90347817
Are you saying that he might leave if things get too weird? I could see that.

It would also betray the trust we have been seeing built up over the course of the comic, and Kass would never forgive him. And from a Meta-perspective, we have Val saying he wants to avoid petty drama in this story
>>
>>90347303
nah, the only interesting column is heartbits/life. only humans and the fucken chickens do >2bn. the average is ~1bn, no matter whale or hamster.
>>
>>90347581
just imagine the stress the giraffe's cardiovascular system is under all the time to pump blood to the brain.
>>
>>90349145
>Are you saying that he might leave if things get too weird?
I'm not saying he'd leave. Elim too pure waifu for that. But he might turn to alcohol, or whatever it is that other Dinnish refugee was taking.
>>
>>90349263
they also have one of the highest rates of homosexuality too

>>90347980
this "part of the load" has negotiated better conditions for all his friends and refugees and now wears the Ivenmoth crest...

This supports the idea that a Yinglet matures mentally at roughly the same rate as a human does.
When they're young, 1-9 years, they're basically annoying chatty animals, but once they get past 10 or so years of age, they can be trained to perform increasingly complex tasks.
Moreover, any Yinglet that survives to be 10 years or older is probably a smarter/more cunning specimen than most, and would be even more trainable and competent.

Most of the patriarchs seem to be on the older side, especially Figgins, and all of them seem very adept in their fields of expertise. I'd chalk this up to them being older, calmer, and less impulsive as a virtue of their age. Same goes for Vizlet, although even by human standards she's a very intelligent person.
>>
>>90349437
>I'd chalk this up to them being older, calmer, and less impulsive as a virtue of their age
also "not tasked to do dangerous shit and at risk being eaten by stray dogs"
>>
>>90349398
That's a reasonable argument.
>>
>>90289558
Mysterious Stranger sure looks a lot like Kass. Wonder if they were transformed too.
>>
>>90347980
That said, Kass and his newfound connections to the Invenmoth inner circle could pay off in a big way for Elim.
Besides, the worst thing Elim's had to put up with so far is a bunch of yappy ratbirds with spears ineptly try to retrain him.
He's fine
>>
>>90349480
Exactly, you get the young Yinglets to do that shit. The ones that survive and show desirable traits get to pass on their genes.
No wonder they all die off so early, they spend at least 1/3 their natural lifespan essentially devoid of common sense and self-awareness.

>Imagine being Kass and looking forward to a nice long human life

>drafted into army
>probably killed some dudes
>probably seen some friends die
>deserted
>witnessed his land fall
>started life anew from the very bottom in a foreign land

something tells me "nice long human life" was a little bit down the list already, right after "survive this fucking month at least"

giraffe AIDS claimed so many of those majestic beasts...
>>
>>90341088
Everymen HAVE quirks! The problem is that for a war deserter refugee vagrant, Elim pretty much is the whole package.

>>90349263
Since hearts are constantly being regenerated 24 hrs a day, I think that metabolism/cancer rate/aging rate have a higher impact on heart failure than mechanical work.

Not a doctor tho.
>>
>>90350065
>Since hearts are constantly being regenerated
regeneration is like a resource - it depletes. it gets even worse the higher you are on the evolution tree. a fuken newt is fine regenerating limbs all the time, but a mammal gradually looses the capacity even regenerate skin and has higher risk of getting cancer in the process.
>>
>>90350344
It's not that clear-cut a thing.

The lifespan of the giraffe IS mostly down to it's fucking retarded cardiovascular system though.

Probably a one-off xeno gag creature. Like all the crazy skeletons, skulls and lizards/bugs you see hidden throughout the comic.

Honestly his nasty pink eye is the #1 reason I don't give a shit about this character everyone waifus, so that's a big improvement for me

Blindness is the easiest "please feel pity for my adorable handicap" angle ever.
He'd probably be even more popular.
He could even get a little guide yinglet

Here is topic for discussion that I totally didn't pull out of my ass for the sake of prolonging this thread's life

everybody is so concerned with how gay this comic is, mainly by pointing out to Lopin (>>90306302 and so on) but I think that Val makes him "ohsofancy" for one single purpose: sooner or later Kass' pussy is going to be invaded. This is going to be awkward for the general audience (except for a minority of us). This can be less awkward if the male yiglet in question were so feminine in both appearance and social role-wise. Kass is still going to wear pants in these relationships. Quite an ingenious way to handle it, if I'm right. Not rooting for KassxLopin - just observing&analyzing.
