I don't find it funny very often, but I also don't think every comic needs to be laugh-out-loud funny. I enjoy it for what it is, it's interesting and I usually learn something new when I look stuff up. And then occasionally it'll do something spectacular, those HTML5 and CSS wizardry posts where you're exploring a surprisingly detailed 2D world by panning around it, or a roughly to-scale map of the Internet based on traffic, or really most of the charts that you have to click through because they need an insane resolution to remain readable..

Iunno why people get so mad about it talking about "nerdy" shit like physics or math either. I mean, if your curiosity isn't sparked, then fine, but it's not like the comic is insulting you for being a layman.

For example, this is a joke. There's a joke here. Sure, it's a reference to Super Metroid and Other M, and it makes a lot more sense if you understand the reference, but even if you've never played Super Metroid and Other M you can work out the humor here: the robot guy saves the baby, then hands it over to scientists. The situation is absurd in and of itself. It's a lot funnier when you know the context (Samus killed all the other children, set the orphanage on fire, then decided to spare the last baby's life) but there's a joke there, it's not JUST a reference.

It's more mediocre than anything but I've grown to dislike Sandra and Woo. While the art is pretty good, even ambitious sometimes, its humor relies heavily on being surreal in a way that's not even funny, like "Oooooh, look how weird this is!!!" The author is very pretentious and will often shove his political views in a comic about a 13 year old girl and a talking raccoon. It used to be prettu comfy but it's just annoying now.

Bad writing/pacing. I think the best part of reading a webcomic is that constant excitement and anticipation of what's coming next. Most webcomics can't support themselves, so writers can't afford to both update quickly and maintain high art quality. I prefer the former, because ultimately we're telling a story here.

But when a webcomic can't properly pace itself and just runs out of steam, that shit hurts deep. It's mybiggest issue with Paranatural.
