I know the ...Space series is more popular on /co/, but I just rewatched ...Life last week for the first time in probably 15 years and I wanted to share my thoughts.
Note that my nostalgia goggles are on.

Backgrounds are still gorgeous and grandiose, whoever designed them really makes you feel the infinitely big in the infinitely small.
Music is still top tier and very fitting (although repetitive) https://youtu.be/07rLlqgS3YU
Character designs are pretty cool and represent what they should pretty well, I especially like the general scifi feel of the white blood cells police and the fact that different viruses are all different variants of the same characters.
Animation is janky as all fuck and reused a lot, and at least in French you can obviously tell they animated before recording any dialogue or maybe even before writing it, so a lot of talking happens when the characters' mouths are closed. (French) VA is pretty solid considering, although it's obvious they only had like 5 actors.
The science in it still seems pretty up to date and is relatively well presented. I like that the show doesn't shy away from throwing its hands in the air and going "who knows?" about the mysteries of science rather than providing ready-made answers or awkwardly dancing abround the topics.
Those episodes about aging and death really don't hold a lot of blows, I felt for the grandad character despite him being litterally introduced only for those topics. Also the segue into ...Space in the 2nd half of the last episode feels pretty out of place.
Psi is still a top tier waifu.

8.5/10, comfy as fuck overall, will re-rewatch one of these days.

My body is full of electric jazz? That's awesome, I have the best soundtrack.

Between all the Once Upon a Time... series, and C'est Pas Sorcier, it was good growing up as a french kid.
The space ship designs by Manchu were'nt half-bad either.
The concepts presented are a bit outdated from time to time (they are really wrong about the differenciation of tastebuds, iirc) but it doesn't really matter to kids. They can correct their views when they reach highschool.

A must watch for all anons that have kids and want to interest them in sciences, history and other scholarly pursuits.

Btw, the series is being restored and rerun on Fr4 and Ludo.fr.

>Psi is still a top tier waifu.
You're goddam right.

>My body is full of electric jazz?
Makes sense. Regulated but chaotic, changes in rythms but always following one, a bit repetitive, and extremely alive.
Honestly for a 31 year old show it's incredible that not more of it is outdated.

I watched so many educational shows as a kid (C'est Pas Sorcier, but also an great educational anime named ORDY that was shown on A2/FR3 https://youtu.be/Ze1-nOmE81o ) but I ended up a security guard :(.

I just discoverd that song was sung by Sandra Kim.

I found this a sometimes difficult but interesting cartoon, which knowledge came handy when I had in later years biology.
>>
>>90284134
Likewise.
Same with the explorers and discoverers/inventors or whatever the hell that one show was called, you know, the one about inventors through out ages, like Pasteur, Marie Curie, Gregor Mendel, Lavoisier and others.
>>
So were all these shows connected, or just the same cast in different scenarios?
>>
>>90280983
well, at least you're now a well-educated security guard.
>>
>>90284245
Life and Space are connected, with the last episodes of Life providing the background for Space.
The rest is about historical event and people and just uses the same cast of actors, since it allows for quick characterization (you don't expect the dwarf >>90281099
to be anything but a little cowardly bully, for example).
Allows for some messages like when the two heroes fight quasi-doppelgangers in a war, and are confused about it for a moment.
>>
>>90284245
the same cast in different scenarios.

In the historical episodes two people grow up, get married, got children who were exact copies of when their parents were children
>>
>>90280983
>ORDY
Well, that brings back memories. Thanks.
Those two little fucks abandonned Scott at the south pole and their father in black hole, tho.
>>
>>90284217
I never saw them on tv, because the shows after america (1991) were never translated for my country.
But I could look if they have them somewhere on youtube.

Who remembers this show?

the meaning of the lyrics change a bit between the french and the english version, it's fun to see cultural differences that way.
>>
>>90280372
I watched this all the time as a kid. The only bit I can remember is the episode where the grandpa died, and it had all the bodily functions shutting down a bit at a time. It ended with the old guy in the brain closing his eyes, saying "Oh, we're surely done for!", and cut to the human characters crying at the bedside of their now dead grandpa.

As a kid I appreciated a cartoon actually talking scientifically about death, but holy shit it was still fucked up.
>>
>>90284732
Saving in animation costs i figure, no need to animate multiple character models.
>>
>>90284791
>That one episode about Cortez going to Tenochtitlan and the crazy amounts of folks dying on screen

Had i seen this one while still a child it might have gotten tome somehow.
>>
>>90284791
On that note the ...Life opening in English really isn't as catchy as in French, the chorus is weird.

https://youtu.be/imP2MZxoM-s

Also I never advocate for reviving/remaking series, but the whole line deserves a some modern upgrade if it's going to still be used to educate children, a lot of those suffer from the time passing in terms of both the evolution of science and animation. As far as I know there aren't a lot of current things that are as in depth as these series are.

B-cells had exceptional waifus.

So, I watched an episode to screencap that pic, and holy fuck is that ginger granulocyte NCO a sociopath.

I saw between the pics I sought also something like an updated design of the characters, but I tink they were updated a bit too much.
If I didn't recognised Meastro I didn't recognised it at all.

Even then part of Maestro's charm was that you could barely see his face behind all the facial hair. That's how wise he was. It was a unique design.
Giving him relatively big eyes and smile makes him look too youthful.

In the once upon a time... man opening, you can see burnt remnants of people flying away at 1.19, and the earth itself exploding a few seconds later.

For the music, it was composed by Michel Legrand (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michel_Legrand), who, among other awards, received 3 Oscars (for other scores obviously).
