I have to say, for all the glimpses of spoilers I saw while waiting for Face the Music, the one thing that really caught me off guard was how much sympathy Moon showed in this episode, both towards her daughter after causing a near riot among the populace (I honestly expected her to lose her shit), but especially towards Ludo's family, even Ludo himself. Monsters.

Between this and her kickass battle form and how cute she looks with her hair down, the last few episodes have made her one of my favorite characters in this show.

Even some of my friends who watch this show actually think its unlikely for starco to happen -- and they SHIP starco.

Like, what the fuck, I get that in real life love doesn't always work out but this is a romantic comedy for children. What would be the point of creating all that sympathy that we are made to feel towards Star, if not to release all that pressure in the end? That's the essence of will-they-won't-they-formula and the trope Just Friends.

The heroine must suffer, she must change and she must think she will never be with her hero right before the end. And then she finds a way. That's the whole point of storytelling. To create conflict, and then resolve the conflict.

What the fuck would the ending look like without the big kiss between Marco and Star? Huh? Star vows celibacy and moves back to Mewni to live with a bunch of cats? After all this growth and sacrifice? Starfan13 kills herself along with the IRL fans in a televised ritual?
