Which one was the better action cartoon?
Jack, without a doubt.
ATLA for me, but they're both great.

But it's just guy flinging a sword. How's that better than bending the elements of the earth?

jack for atmosphere and art direction
ATLA for continuing plot and character relations

ATLA.
Samurai Jack.

From a strictly cinematic standpoint, Jack was superior. The fight and action scenes were very deliberate and stylized to maximize each one's intensity.
Airbender was a fantastic show with great characters and an excellent story, but it didn't have the raw, nonstop action Jack had.
ATLA
Serious continuity + deep characterization (the latter as compared to SJ at least)
SJ
Pretty pictures
ATLA is better, no contest. Jack is good but doesn't hold up as well to viewings as an adult.

Jack was a better action cartoon, AtLA was a better adventure cartoon.
Overall though? They're both great in their own ways.

>Airbender was a fantastic show with great characters and an excellent story
No.

Wow. Great post. Such rebuttal.
>>90275539
they're very different is scope and aim.

They are very different. Samurai Jack is serious business and enjoyable as you get older.
ATLA is cool stuff for kids and hot (brown) girls. Well actually you can enjoy the brown girls later but you know what I mean.

I don't know if it's a fair comparison. ATLA's scope is x10 bigger that jack's and has more themes. both do action pretty alright.
