BATS started it. I was really into Robin, and I tried to get into the actual comics but I found the art/stories really off-putting and dark. This was like, the height of grimdark, early 90s. Batman was mean and weird, it just wasn't what I wanted. While attempting to get into Batman and just settling for the DCAU comics, I came across Fantastic Four, which was bright and happy-looking and familiar enough for me to read - it was also about a GROUP which I realize in retrospect is what made me disinterested in Superman comics compared to Batman. I wanted to read about a team/unit that worked together. So, from there I got into Marvel, but not as much as I wanted to, cause comics could get expensive!! Plus, the comic shop was far away, and events happened really fast in the comics, it was hard to keep up, so it kind of fell off.

I resisted JLU when it came out cause of my younger alliance with Marvel, but once I finally gave it a shot (after it had been cancelled) when I was around 17, I fell HARD. I got SUPER into the universe, the characters, I could download the comics by then and I immediately read everything I could get my digital hands on relating to my favorite characters. I was reminded of my love of Marvel and started catching up, there too.

I would definitely say the mainstream cartoons are what got me hooked both times. I kind of think comics themselves are hard to get into if you're not given motivation, which the cartoon adaptations provide. You can FIND the gems but you have to learn the language first, I think.

BvS is like 3.5 films chopped together with the WORST Lex in history.
