There is no fucking possible way that you could do an edgy remake of KND and have it turn out well.

The entire show is just a series of toned-down action/suspense movie references with the comedy centered around how much is lost in translation from the process.

Hell, one of their scenes actually did a parody of Chinatown.

The comedy in this lies in the fact that it's a incredibly dark and serious scene played in a children's cartoon. Without it being a children's cartoon, there's no comedy in including something like this.

This, its fundamental joke is kid versions of adult things, making edgy adult KND would be like making Fillmore a cop show with actual police dealing with serious crimes.

Not that it couldn't get deep with the lore and have pretty intense conflicts, but making the kid-adult conflict lethal would just break what makes it work in the first place.
