Agrabah in 2 was based on Return of Jafar, though I dunno how Ursula came back and died almost the same way again.

I still think a lot of stuff about the original game was interesting.

This is my point, for all we know he could have been like a "good guy" when he was human but they never show him yet we've seen all the other members as humans. Marluxia was the "bad guy" in COM but really he wasn't, he fought Sora and Riku because they just didn't know what was going on and got in his way. It would have been fun to see him be an ally to Sora and the crew while doing his own shady things on the side.

It really seems he bought wholesale into the lie Xemnas was talking about too. He had a lack of personality marked by Nobodies thinking they have no emotions and with it an absence of empathy towards ruining Sora's life (or lack of conscience by using Namine to manipulate him).

Larxene really had a hell of a personality and was a snarky bitch through and through but Marluxia conversely was very focused. His voice acting in the 3D version of CoM just compounds that idea that he was in the same anti-feeling state that a number of other Org characters were too.

Marluxia at some level must have had an idea what was going on and decided to take matters in his own hands. As Number 11 he was a fairly new recruit too, same with Larxene, and not beholden to the Organization like the others. It's even possible if they were successful they could have turned Luxord and Demyx to their side, both of which seem more like they do punchclock work for the Organization. Demyx especially only seemed to follow Xemnas out of fear of being killed over all else.

If Marluxia ends up a Nort I'll be so damn pissed. Marluxia matches in rejecting Xehanort's influence over force of will and mistrust that Xemnas spoke of in DDD and he campaigned against him wholesale.

Out of the original Organization Xaldin and Vexen make sense and both were stated as being unstable and unable to wake after everyone else woke up. Lexaeus and Zexion both recovered fine, Saix is a Nort, Axel isn't (or is he?), Demyx would absolutely not be for perceived weakness.

Luxord is a massive question mark and always has been. His time powers make him even more a toss up since this time travel shit popped up, On the other hand in everything he's been in the guy has been strangely aware of the 4th wall and was affable. He's as punchclock villain as they come and doesn't go out of his way aside what he has to do for his job.

Marluxia seems too willful to be a Nort and his history doesn't support the idea of him accepting Xehanort's influence. Same goes for Larxene.

Should I get back into KH if I haven't played a single one of the games since vanilla 2, which I found to be ultimately disappointing? I've always wanted to play the FM versions of KH1 and 2, plus the various spinoffs.

If you mean the PS4 version and not the PS3 or PC version, it depends on when you played it, they might have patched everything by now. Big problems were the non-existent RNG (IE every fight would always have the same dicerolls no matter how many times you reloaded the game) and the background music would reset after every battle.

No you're correct, there was a machine. The end of the first game also made it so the Heartless wouldn't even be able to invade other worlds, because the walls separating them were restored. But that was swept to the side in 2 because of "corridors", so now the Heartless can just travel wherever they want because reasons, gotta keep the sequels going.
