I feel TNCG can get away with being slightly unexciting because the character interactions are fun, but Rocknaldo definitely suffers from lack of imagination. Star vs. is the closest thing to SU between your three choices, due to the overarching plot and animu/internet influences. But beware that while SU's first episodes are sappy and childish, Star's first episodes are hyperactive and filled with "YAH GURL"-tier humor.

Wander is much more cartoonish, but on the other hand the protagonist is more similar to Steven's character, since he's a pacifist who actively tries to help people and redeem villains. In two seasons, with little to no continuity, this show managed to do the "pacifist has his ideals and methods challenged" plot way better than SU ever could so far.

As for Gumball, completely different thing, but if you happen to like slapstick, surrealism and making fun of every single trope in existance, this is the show for you.

Season 2 started with the fallout of Jail Break, and it was only six episodes of Townie shit that we suddenly got Peridot's return, and the escalation with Alexandrite, then only two episodes until Peridot's capture and a WHOLE bunch of material revealed.

"Townie"episodes (i.e. episodes with literally nothing to do with the Gems, the history with Rose and Steven's birth, or any power revelations) - 4/26 - 15%

Season 3 gave us a lot of conclusions and a lot of new paradigms, and it gave us a justification for its side-adventures, and townie stuff, such as including revelations on Peridot's power, officially reconciling Greg and Pearl, or giving Steven new powers.

Season 4 has had a few intermittent followups with plot, but has mostly just been filler until the big important Gem Zoo reveal, with unrelated shit that only adds unneeded extra context to characters that already have had episodes explaining themselves. Oh look, Onion's weird. Oh look, Smiley had a comedy act. Oh look, Ronaldo is a fucking autistic spaz.

Townie Episodes - 6/18 - 33% of what we have now.
Even assuming that this is going to be NOTHING but important episodes from here on out, Season 4 will have had 6/26 episodes as useless filler, in a series that takes more hiatuses than Zack Morrison. That's over 1 in 5 episodes being pointless, all together. 1 in 3 right now.

It sucks, even if the bomb episodes about saving Greg were top tier, and introduced FUCKING Holly and i enjoyed The new crystal gems and Storm in the room.
An episode like Rocknaldo or Sadie´s song stand out like a sore thumb, and thanks to haitus they bring the whole show with them.
