Just got done watching this show from start to finish.

Is it weird that I only started enjoying this show with the Ludo episodes? I just found Star's magic abuse and getting away with it because muh potential utterly enraging, while I appreciated the struggle of the little shit. It was nice to see Star finally start to lose in season 2, but it looks like she's only falling apart rather than growing from the experience.

I can agree with that; I actually like Ludo too.

I just don't really feel like he comes off as extremely sympathetic. More sympathetic now than in the first season, but the whole lust for power etc. kind of balances it out a bit.

I think Star tossing him into a random space portal actually comes off more shitty in retrospect than it did at the time, considering he starved in the wilderness and is now apparently traumatized by it going by his reaction to the portal in Bon Bon. So I guess he is more sympathetic than her in that instance. But it could be said that him stealing the spellbook from her and indirectly leading to Toffee's return (plus whatever happens to Star in the finale) is sort of her punishment for that too.

I just don't see his whole quest for power as sympathetic considering it's not even a case of wanting it for all monsters in general. Sympathetic motives but I'm not exactly going to be broken up by him not winning.

Okay so let me get this straight

Star is going to fuck up so hard in the season finale that she'll have a total meltdown, and with everybody brushing off her problems as something she can get over easily, it will cause a giant disaster. Star either becomes corrupted or magic itself gets corrupted by Toffee because of Star. MHC will be destroyed in the "fallout" of this event.

SVtFoE is showing Star having problems with jealousy. I'm pretty sure this is leading up to 'Star really is a princess who can't handle not getting what she wants', and some real character growth that lasts more than one episode.
