Hela's origin got hugely retconned in Journey Into Mystery. Whilst she was technically 'created' by Loki, she's not his child anymore. It's a time paradox situation-Hela created a handmaiden called Leah to work with young Loki, Leah was merged back into Hela later, Loki created another Leah using reality warping and Surtur's sword, that Leah was thrown back in time to the beginning of everything by Kid Loki to protect her from classic Loki, who was returning. Fake Leah ended up becoming Hela over time, thus creating herself and continuing the loop.
...Journey Into Mystery is a lot better than I'm describing it.

In Simonson's run, Thor led Asgardian expedition into Hel to save the souls of warriors who fell in the battle for Earth against Malekith. There, he faced off against Hela. This scenario is not outside the realm of possibilities for the movie, especially since we'll also get Skurge, but I have no idea how it would tie with Planet Hulk storyline.
Though if Hulk joins Thor against Hela, it might be quite interesting because when you enter Hel, you face off against the soul of everyone you have ever killed. For Banner, that could be quite the ordeal.
