Are you ready for your new flavour of the month?
Made it to episode 3 last night. So far parts are pretty creepy and weird, story is a bit trash and characters are meh, but I love the cryptids/Legends.
>>90185372
Is she from a different time? I mean the future?
How'd she die?
>>90185740
Teodora Vicenta De La Purísima Concepción De La Inmaculada Trinidad Villavicencio is supposed to be a rich girl from Mexico's colonial era. She uses achronological thing like celphones, is implied she can travel in time (via ghost powers maybe?)
>>90185974
Nahuala kills all his family including her
>>90185990
That's why she looks like a early 50s- early 60s hussy.
>>90185372
What's this?
>>90186066
i guess some characters designer took her as his pet and redesign her to look like a 60's rich mean girl to fulfill his fetish, also i can be wrong
>>90186105
Umm... ok.
>>90186092
Netflix Mexican Cartoon about a kid who have got Shamanic powers to sense paranatural things, is accompanied for a rich girl ghost, a knight ghost, an alebrije (mexican fabulous beast) and two sugar candy skulls, it is very " A la Scooby Doo Mistery Inc"
>>90186142
Cool. Title?
>>90186155
Local: Las leyendas
International: Legend Quest
>>90186165
Thanks.
>>90185372
Why do I need to get ready for the flavour, if it's ghost girl supposed to suck my cock?
I am a sucker for paranormal things but honestly the highlight of this movie series has always been the ghost girl, I have yet to see the cartoon but I bet it will be the same.
Marcella is pretty cute too, but not as much as Teodora. I'm surprised Leo kissed her in the first episode, I thought she was going to be the Wendy to his Dipper.
>>90186003
I think the show has a different continuity than the movie series. In the movies, Leo meets the ghosts while on a quest to save his brother, but in the netflix cartoon, he says they just showed up at his door one day. So I guess that means Xochitl (native ghost loli from the first movie) isn't going to be in the show unless they introduce her some other way.
>>90186105
She starts dressing in modern clothes in the 2nd movie. She looked a lot different in the first movie: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VEklBM7iZfA . It's probably the outfit she was killed in.
>>90186285
It's not bad, it probably helps that they have Americans helping to write/produce it like James Krieg, who's worked on Green Lantern the animated series, which is a pretty good show if you haven't seen it.
>>90187120
i really doubt Anima did Write/Animate this, i guess they only gave main idea, characters and background and was written by americans and animated by european studio
>>90185372
Is this available in english?
>>90187264
Yup
Honestly, after watching further into the season, the awkward moments, story building, and character moments, I think this show is pretty good. Dunno if it has the appeal to go mainstream, but I'm sure porn/normal artists will latch on to Taedora and the other girl in due time.
>>90187120
There's a movie? Does it go by the same name?
>>90187699
There's four movies so far.
La Leyenda De la Nahuatl
La Leyenda de la Llrona
La Leyenda de Los Momias
La Leyenda de el Chupacabra.
I've seen the first two movies on netflix, but they're not on there anymore. I haven't seen the 4th movie (I don't think there are any torrents available), but this is how Teodora looked in the 3rd movie.
Guess I'll strike while the iron is room temperature.
The show does look interesting. Is it passable?
>>90187852
WOOF.
Good on them for going with a different style in the show. This is just weird. Frankly hideous.
I hope this show marks the start of more cartoons being produced in Mexico.
>>90188436
It's worth a binge. It's not overly childish, and the characters actually respond to random statements from each other and the occasional plothole.
>>90188436
It's good enough from the 2 and a half episodes I've seen. I hope to catch up with the series once I get a day off from work.
GHOST BLOWJOB! WHOO-HOOO!
>>90188436
>This is just weird. Frankly hideous.
I liked it. ;_; She's at least come a long way from how she looked in the first movie.
Still watching the series. Episode 3 implies Teodora died differently, so I guess this is a different continuity.
Leo got fucked up by some dream demon and passed out. Teodora tells the dragon guy "where she comes from" they have a name for the state Leo is in: a coma.
She then tells the unconscious Leo that she knows "exactly what this feels like."
>>90189545
Dies differently then how she died in the movies I mean, where a witch killed her so her soul could be harvested for some weird sacrifice.
Seems they're setting something up with Teodora. When theysee the medusa, Teodora is somehow immune to being turned to stone.Leo even brings it up later in the episode, but Teodora doesn't explain how it happened (or maybe she doesn't know why herself.)
This looks interesting, where can I find it? (subbed or dubbed in English)

It came out on Netflix just today.
>>90188551
the only way for mexico to start producing good cartoons it's if anima studio closes down forever. the animartion is mediocre and the voice acting terrible (and I say this as a latino myself), I'm kind of mad they have good dubbing actors but the voice actors they hire for their own cartoons are fucking shit.

wrong pic
>>90185372
The series would be better without the old guy and the weird animal.
Both girls are fine and the main character is at least ok.
>>90188636
The new characters have tits and this is only one reason the new design is better.
>>90185458
Why she has Mega Man-Style legs?
>>90198690
The old guy is supposed to be a ghost that read too much Don Quijote de la Mancha and the weird looking animal is an Alebrije, a dream/nightmare looking animal invented by a local man when he was in a coma.
Both characters represent a folkloric idea, you can remove those.
>>90185372
The old guy's more interesting than yet another ghost waifu to add to the pile
Is he, like, a conquistador?
>>90201056
He is an Hidalgo, just like Don Quijote de la Mancha from "Cervantes" (literally the shakespeare from hispanic speakers)
So yes, he is a Spanish old man.
This is acceptable, go watch it

Hey, the theme song was uploaded to youtube, but it's slightly different than the netflix version. It has pauses where the characters names are shown, and some weird Aztec ball with eyes is at the start. I'm up to episode 5 and haven't seen the ball, so I don't know what significance, if any, it has.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B0G_A5JS21Q
>>90192776
It obviously petrifies their ectoplasm.
>>90198770
She has boobs in the 3rd and 4th movies. I don't know if it was because she was getting "older" despite being undead, or just a result of art style change.
>>90201056
>>90201659
One of the villains refers to him as a conquistador, and an episode that takes place in Germany shows that he worked for a village there to get rid of a monster that was haunting the place. Maybe they'll explore what his life was like when he was living. He's pretty old looking, so I assume he died of old age, but maybe something else happened.

Kind of reminds me more of Mexican Mighty Max, but to be fair I haven't watched that show in over a decade. Speaking of Gravity Falls, I'm glad Leo got with Marcella in the first episode, I was afraid him and her were just going to be in a Wendip 2.0 scenario.
of all the things, they picked this to make a show out of?

Only movie Teodora, we need Netflix Teodora.
>>90208655
Good luck with that. I've been trying to find torrents/downloads for Home: Adventures of Tip and Oh with no luck. I don't think downloads for netflix toons are easy to find unless it's something super popular like Voltron. If you do find any, hook me up, maybe I'll make a webm of any good moments.

Just look up "Teodora_Villavicencio" on paheal. I don't think that's the right way to tag her, but I'm too lazy to go and change it, and it's hard to tag because her real name is ridiculously long.
>>90209612
Although I guess Teodora_Vicenta would work, since it seems the rest of it are various titles. I don't know if she has the same last name in the netflix show since she has a different origin story.
>>90209612
Found it. Says the art was created 9 months ago.... I thought this show just aired today?
>>90209727
The show is based off a series of movies, Teodora's been around for 10 years. Pic related is her back in 2007.
>pandering shows continue to fuck up what exactly a selfie is
Does it occur to anyone else that if this series were set during the old testament, the main character would be the villain?
>the show has a Pee Wee's Big Adventure reference
Welp
English or Spanish dub? I only know enough Spanish to talk to my family so a cartoon is probably more or less exactly my level of competency. Any famous actors or people I should know about?
>>90210353
I'd be concerned about watching it in Spanish since the English dub uses a lot of loan words from languages other than Spanish and I'm not sure if those words have Spanish equivalents, but if they do they are almost certainly not any sort of basic Spanish.
I mean unless you know yaga del bizcocho borracho is Spanish for baba yaga.
\
>Teodora is a weeaboo

>>90211177
The vodnik episode.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Z0VMI67a4Y
>that Marcella flashback changing with each heartbeat
That was actually kind of a trippy scene.
>>90208815
It least it explains why she has a modern device in 19th century Mexico. That just came out of left field with no explanation in the movies and it always bugged me.Haven't watched far enough to see why she ended up in the past though.
>Anima EstudiosBut honestly though those designs look WAY better than the average trash they spew out, how is the animation?
Is Teodora Marcella's (and by extension Leo's) descendant? Cause they look A LOT alike.
>>90212060
>how is the animation?
Flat but fluid for the most part. There's some occasional jank and the designs vary pretty greatly in quality from great to terrible to odd, but it's by no means below average.
That said, shit can and will be reused.
I'm liking Marcella so far. When I first saw her in the soccer field, I was afraid she's wind up being a mary sue.
>>90210353
I'm sticking with the Spanish dub because I'm used to the voices from the movies and I like that goofy snooty voice Spanish Teodora uses (I kind of have the hunch it'd sound annoying to a native speaker though.)
>>90212060
It's a netflix series, so Anima Estidios isn't doing the whole thing by themselves. One of the Producers was the same guy who worked on Green Lantern: The Animated Series, and Top Draw Inc (who also did the Peabody and Sherman netflix toon) is doing animation
>>90212146
>>90212117
oh so the good stuff is probably not coming from anima estudios? boy what a shocker

Are the movies subbed? Should I even watch them?
>>90212407
animation is ass and it's not even the same continuity so I wouldn't bother.
>>90212407
>Are the movies subbed?
My Netflix used to have the first two movies subbed, but not anymore. Maybe yours might have them.
None of the torrents I found of the first three movies has subs, but downloadable subs for the first one are out there.
You don't have to watch the movies to understand the netflix series, because the latter retcons some stuff like how Leo met the ghosts in the first place, and Teodora's backstory, so you don't miss out on anything.
>>90212407
Don't bother, Anima Estudios sucks balls.
Shit, there are indie mexican animators with zero budget that do way better stuff than them.
My main beef with them is their character designs are absolute trashcan juice tier. I can't believe that these guys sat down and said, "yeah these bug eyed 80s tv ad looking shits are good enough".
Reminds me of Mexican ghost Pacifica with more tsundere.
>>90212547
also just to add, i think these new designs are really fantastic compared to the old stuff, which is why i was taken out of the loop for a second there. who designed these?
>>90212585
>who designed these?
These guys, apparently.
>>90212820
Actual latino guys? That's good, maybe they're on the right track. I actually think there's potential here in Mexico (you can notice this mostly on the illustration side of creative media) so I'm hopeful we start getting somewhere in animation.
>>90212577
>Reminds me of Mexican ghost Pacifica
>true
>with more tsundere.

Teodora is meme machine.
In New Jersey she says that they should stay off the turnpike.
A) this isn't really a joke and B) even todays Mexicans wouldn't get it.
>Leo: That's Mt. Vesuvius? Wow! I've seen drawings-but-but-it's so majestic!

Thanks, that's a relief.
The movie had mexican accents but it was way too exaggerated so it felt forced to me. I kinda blame the little black girl protagonist, she was the worst.
And now I'm off to draw porn of the snobby ghost girl!
