So they're straight-forward ancient aliens right?
No. Original Kirby New Gods were entirely contemporary. Later New Gods (Mostly as written by Morrison) have some AA elements to them, but are anything but straight-forward.
The Astro-Harness was a huge mistake, Orion looks like some sort of space cripple in his space walker

How so?
Everything I've seen of them seems like aliens.

Consider actually researching the definition of contemporary.
Also consider actually reading the comics.

they're not ancient. they're new. hence the name.

They used to live in a higher dimension. Later writers made them powerful aliens.

Not really.
They get guidance from the actual burning hand of god

They are neither ancient, nor aliens. It's in the damn name.

My mistake, my fundamental confusion is the "alien" part so thought you meant contemporary godhood.
Come to think of it I shouldn't have said ancient aliens at all, meant it as a singular term. Too many memes on the brain.
