honestly I think 9/10ths of the MvC3 roster are a shoo-in. we saw in the trailer they just slapped new skins on Iron Man, Cap, and Ryu's models and slightly tweaked their moveset. the only reason not to do that for 1/10ths would be if they felt certain new characters share too many gimmicks with certain old characters

Ike's gone from films and if the rumors are true, gone by the end of the year from Marvel completely because Bob Iger doesn't want him there and his power has been reduced significantly in editorial and media ever since Feige got political to the point he's been even frozen out of some merch deals (Turns out if you make a long list of enemies, they might just turn on you when they have the chance).

Apparently the Marvel Games iniative was Feige as well who helped get them the editorial power to choose what studios and publishers they wanted to work with instead of having to just working with whoever had the biggest paycheque (And you know that Activision was going to be back if it was purely money) and considering they picked Square-Enix over the big three (EA, Ubi, Activision) and directly went to Capcom because they knew MvC is their biggest gaming series. Their priorities are pretty straight.

I don't imagine a seperate X-Men game for a while (And Destiny fucked the brand) but I wouldn't be surprised if the characters are in MvCi as DLC and maybe in the Square Enix games.

MvC2 is the most iconic iteration of the series, owing to both nostalgia and the well known hype of basically any MvC2 tournament match with Yipes on commentary.

i wouldnt mind having a 2-character system and mmaaaybe having a mvc1 style assist system though, where assists are just limited-use summon attacks rather than an actual playable part of your team as it would increase their value and would help prevent team setups that relied almost entirely on borderline broken assists like mvc3 doom's hidden missiles or vanilla mvc3's tron bonne flame assist

it would've worked alot better as a reboot than an actual sequel and "CHRIS REDFIELD OUTTA FUCKIN NOWHERE" would've made more sense especially since he's umbrella now (which is still a thing apparently) but bionic commando & DmC scared capcom away from the idea of reboots
