Probably just did it for the lulz, the same as anybody pulling a prank like that would. It was a golden opportunity for it. But if you really want excuses for him to dislike /gfg/, there were still plenty. For one, there was a lot of sexualizing of his younger self insert and of the character based on his sister, and porn of the two of them together. He also had a girlfriend that hung out on /gfg/ a lot as the show was airing, and when she'd turn up a lot of anons would make jokes at Alex's expense and requests for lewd acts and pranks for her to pull on him. It was after he broke up with her I think that the climate on /gfg/ changed to mostly disliking him and they dubbed him "the hack," before that they mostly liked him despite everything.
