I'm still annoyed that they didn't pick Anthony Ingruber for young Han.
It's as though God created this man for the express reason of portraying a younger Harrison Ford. The fact that he looks so uncannily like Ford, the fact that he speaks English as a first language, the fact that he persued acting as a career, the fact he was talented enough to make a living from it and the fact that he just happened to be born at the right moment to be old enough to play a young Solo when they're making a young Solo movie. The odds of all that are fucking phenomenal.

Yoda spoke of "victory for all time" when alluding to the gift of becoming a Force spirit. It's immortality in the Force. They're able to affect the outcome of current events from beyond the grave. Why they haven't appeared during this First Order business will be answered in Episode VIII, I imagine. If we're talking hero selection, in my eyes that's only EVER worked with a Prequel setting.

The Heroes are supposed to be monsters who can turn the tied of a battle. Vader and Luke, I can 100% understand. Boba and Chewie, not exactly but I can give them a pass. Palpatine looks a little silly but theoretically fits the bill. The rest of them don't really make a lot of sense to me. If we're playing Star Wars Smuggler's Run or Star Wars InterPlanetary Diplomacy Simulator, then by all means, give me Han and Leia but they were never Super Soldiers and it feels dumb to play them as such (it felt stupid to play as Han even in the old Battlefront).
Lando and Nien Nunb are even more lidicrous, as is Krennic.
Jyn's sort of in Han territory. Bossk and Dengar are just scraping the bottom of the barrel.

You don't have to like Grievous or Maul or pinball Yoda, but they fit the playstyle.

Luke only trains with Yoda for a week at most in ESB before he has go save his friends in Bespin.

Is there anything in canon or EU stories (even if they are Legends) that indicate Luke traveled back to Dagobah for more training in the year between V and VI before they rescued Han?

No, when he leaves Dagobah he promises to come back. In ROTJ we see him mention that he's keeping his promise. Even the EU holds to that and doesn't have them meeting again between then.

It's also important that he calls himself a Jedi Knight but more than one person think he's getting ahead of himself. Even Yoda tells him he's not a knight yet, even if he feels there isn't anything left to teach him. The confrontation with Vader and the Emperor is basically his trial.

I don't see him doing too much extensive travel/training between ESB and ROTJ though, mostly because I feel that the main reason he didn't go back to see Yoda was because he was busy, so I don't think it'd make sense for him to take the time to research temples. The Danger of the BSV was only a thing so long as Vindi was allowed to roam freely. IF he had successfully delivered it to the CIS, Dooku would've probably had him apprehended or executed because of how unstable he is.
