And I'm sorry to ask, but would you have any tips for improving in drawing? I'm aware that practice is important, but know that practicing the same wrong technique will only make you faster at drawing something wrong. Really kills motivation too when I spend hours on one sketch and I know that it's at best sub-par, but don't know a better way to improve the picture and decide to leave it be without possibly ruining it.

Study. Repetition. Theft.

A lot of folks get caught up on spending a bunch of time making a picture perfect when they just don't have the technical know how to spot AND correct all the mistakes in their picture. Hell, at every stage of art, your eye is improving along with your hand. I spot flaws in my own work I didn't catch at first glance yesterday. In a year I'll wonder what the fuck I was thinking letting stuff get posted now.

1. Boring Exercises are fuckin necessary. Draw your basic shapes. Draw that 1-point perspective shot of that boring street with the boring houses on the side. Draw shapes until your cubes don't look like a cardboard box after UPS was done treating it with grace and care, and your spheres don't look like deflated balloons.

2. Repetition! You gotta draw MORE to draw better. Get out a sketchbook, check out websites like Line of Action, and start yourself a class session. It'll give you limited time per reference picture to draw the reference, gradually giving you more until you get the Big Piece of the class, then winding back down. Limited time forces you to consider the bare essentials of structure and the most important information.

3. Theft. People won't tell you this, but it's fine to trace. Find artists you like. Ref them as hard as you fucking can while drawing something you want to draw. Outright trace if you want. Don't post these pics looking for notes, but one of the best ways to learn from other artists is to try and recreate their stylistic choices. Helps you think of things from different angles.
