God Secret Empire has me so worried. I was really loving Kobik'd Steve as this kind of morally grey figure that showed that even if you make him Hydra he still believes in it to make the world a better place, contrary to traditional Hydra people, but Secret Empire seems to be painting him as full blown villain.
>>
>>90076453

>He had tie ins to Infinity, Secret Wars and Original Sin
Secret Wars was the only one that really had anything to do with the event though. The Original Sin tie-ins had secrets revealed, but the Watcher's eye wasn't involved at all. The Infinity tie-in was mostly the GotG arguing and then fighting some aliens on a ship, no real role in the events of Infinity.

So, is Secret Empire "Captain Hydra catches Kobik and makes her make his headcanon reality" then? Because that's what I'm seeing in these two covers.

>>90075489
Not so much this one, though. This one seems pretty unevented.

>Are we actually going to kill Cannonball?
Trick question, you can't, he's immortal, one of the Princes of the Universe.
>>
>>90078118
>Galactus is still the lifebringer

Thank god

Also, I already know that the thing I'm going to enjoy most about this event is the cosmic stuff, like the chitauri fleet and the cosmic jailer turning the tide of cosmic balance on Hydra's favor
>>
>>90076163
Two throw away panels every 3 issues, with a punch of dialogue expressing how much of a joke the villains are hardly counts.

>>
>>90078118
> Ultimates yet again in another tie-in

They fuck up on CWII how much will they fuck up with Hydra Wars?
>>
>>90078290
Yeah, like that bit from Captain Marvel where she and Iron Man are stopping a bank robbery while continuing their usual dialogue.

Stopping crime is basically like getting coffee, once you get to a certain point in a superhero career.
>>
>>90078200
Why exactly.

I dropped out of the second Young Avengers run early
>>
>>90075469
Is Cap a real villain?
>>
>>90075513
who is that monster behind Cap?
>>
>>90078768
Not clear yet. He's done some villainous things but under the pretense of some "greater good," plus he's opposed to Red Skull's Hydra.
>>
>>90078118
>Galctus, help us stop Steve Rogers from taking over the Earth!
>Bitch, I'm busy trying to save the entire multiverse, who gives a fuck about who's in charge of one planet?
>>
>>90078929
Self designated Warlock is not monster.
>>
So...will Hydra Bob defect or something? Right before it becomes cool?
>>
>>90079130
Good point, there is no way that Bob won't play a part in Deadpool's tie-in to Secret Empire.
>>
>>90078929
Hawkeye.
>>
>>90078231
Some tie-ins could be set in the normal reality where he's doing shit before the probable cubing happens?
>>
>>90079025
The "existential" threat is probably the cosmic being that has taken control of the omniverse and is making bad things happen on all levels of existance. It is probably to blame for the rise of Hydra on earth.

>>90078231
If he's making his headcannon reality, it would be somewhat weird that there would be resistance, or that the chitauri are still a threat.

>>
>>90082002
I actually have been on the Sam Train since the start. I like Spencer's SamCap more than Remender's. Only issue I haven't liked was this most recent one, since it felt contrived, and against Sam's own words back in issue 2 about while Steve believes in others to do the right thing, Sam can only hope that. Was expecting him to try harder to save Rage.
>>
>>90082205
They'll both be Falcon
>>
>>90082267
Remender's Zemo arc was absolutely terrible.
>>
>>90082267
'm not reading samcap, I don't really like the concept to being with. Falcon was always his own persona there was no need to make him Cap. How is it tied to Secret Empire? Now that wee're on topic, do you read Thunderbolts? How is it?
>>
>>90075513
When did Reed Richards return

There's a few differences. First off, Civil War II was all but confirmed to be shit before it even started. This actually has a chance of being decent.

CWII had only one artist, and not the fastest artist at that, on the book which caused insane amounts of delays. SE is going to have a bunch of artists rotating in and out to avoid delays.

CWII was a last second cash grab with 0 build-up in any book and they practically admitted in interviews going in that they had practically no time to make it, whereas SE has been building up since Standoff.

I'm not saying Secret Empire is going to be some great comic or anything, but comparing it to Civil War II is a bit unfair when CWII was a special kind of horrible trainwreck. The better comparison is Infinity.

>>90083156
He's probably right that the fans aren't in the mood for another blockbuster "nothing will ever be the same again" event.
>>
>>90083230
We've been saying that for years yet events keep selling. If anything was going to be the straw that broke the camel's back, it's definitely CWII since that was a fucking disaster, but complaints about "event fatigue" are nothing new.
>>
>>90083284
Before, they at least gave us a few months to breath let normal comics try and tell their stories.

I'm somewhat frustrated that this event has a fair chance of being good but people will shit on it anyways because "not muh cap" and event fatigue caused by the shitshow that was Civil War II. Well, If it tanks at least the strategy of causing outrage to sell will have blown on Brevoot's face.

>>90083156
I remember that interview in which Brevoot bragged about having planned the event in a few months when it usually takes a year.

Also, it's so refreshing to see rotating artists in a marvel event. Secret wars was torture.

>>90083230
I am if the event is the result of buildup from a previously established story. It feels like natural progression. That's what bugged me the most about SW and CWII. The first one felt like it left all those years of build up aside to tell a different story (Granted, it was the culmination of Hickman's FF, but it sure as hell didn't feel like a culmination to Avengers and New avengers). And the second one came out of fucking nowhere.

Did cap manage to regain the public's trust when he was replaced by a skrull in EMH?

He'll get zapped back, feel bad for it, and probably join the Thunderbolts to regain people's trust

Real Cap will probably have to punch out Captain Hydra on top of the Statue of Liberty for the finale.

Hey guys, does a first issue to what could be an ongoing usually mean it's not gonna sell good?

>Secret Warriors #1

>SECRET WARRIORS #1 by Matthew Rosenberg and Javier Garron

As Captain America’s big secret comes to light in Secret Empire, heroes will rise to the occasion and team up to stop this infiltration from within. But with most of the Royal Family headed into outer space, a group of younger Inhumans—plus Karnak—must unite to battle the threat of Hydra!

>>90086950
And by that I mean when a #1 to an ongoing that starts off as a tie-in.
>>
>>90086950
It's certainly unusual. Usually you just do a one-shot tie-in and then do the #1 after that.
>>
>>90085890
From the solicits, it seems to be:
>Masters of Evil with a huge roster attacks NYC
>Chitauri Armada does full-force invasion
>Baron Mordo pulls some Dark Dimension shit
All happening at the same time and all but Baron Mordo's being orchestrated by Steve, which let's Steve use the SHIELD Act to give him absolute power in time of absolute crisis. Then he goes PSYCHE, HAIL HYDRA and takes over the country.
>>
>>90086950
>Karnak's 8-pack
He found the flaw in gains.
>>
>>90086950
That is an ongoing it was announced before secret empire
>>
>>90087032
It's not automatically a bad thing, but people can be put off by it because they would feel like they need to buy the entire event to understand the story. Usually tie ins don't require that unless the mc is starring in the event but here the entire comic starts from the event so reading it would probably be needed.

>>
>>90089881
Unexplained as of this point, but a major plot point is that cap has been uable to locate kobik since standoffs, so it's unlikely that he used her. He just has the queen stored in some greenhouse by a farmer
>>
>>90089881
The Russians knew about the Chitauri for a long while and had their super community steal a queen larvae during one of their botched expeditions.

They had the idea, eventually co-opted by Steve, that if the population of Earth ever got too big, they could wake up the Queen chitauri to call down an alien invasion on the Earth and then use the same Queen (with the help of telepaths) to tell them to back off once enough people were dead.

Cap stole the Queen from Red Ghost and it's the centerpiece of one of his plans.
>>
>>90090169
He got the plans from Red Ghost's lab after killing him. There was probably info in the lab on how to pull it off.
>>

I think it sort of happened, because the media promotion of Cap revealed as a Hydra agent and the large outrage on Twitter only led to "ok" sales instead of higher sales. Ok sales are fine if it was a title with only attention from the comics reading crowd but not okay when they were pushing news media to cover it.
