Judge Dredd thread.
Most underrated comics universe of all time.
Read some Dredd you fucks

Best comic hero bar none. Maybe only Batman is better or equal.
I think Dredd read as one huge mega epic starting with say the Robot Wars and ending with Necropolis is one of the greatest runs if not the greatest run in comic history.
>finally a dredd thread
>it's dedd
>Read some Dredd you fucks
Sure, why not?

So how about last week's Megazine story? Dat very last panel reveal...
>>90053361
>>90053463
I just got the first volume of Judge Anderson Psi files and I got to say, Anderson was blessed with top tier artists.
>>90053484
Grud damn got to love Cam Kennedy
>>90053567
Definitely. Bolland, Ewins, Kitson, then later Roach and Ranson... Fucking murderers' row there.
>>90053640
I found him fairly hard to get into at first but god damn he's good, that Kenny Who.
>>90053340
>last week's Megazine story?
>implying I know where to actually get any of this stuff and don't just pilfer it from /co/
>>90051999
I always liked the Hondo City stories. Those were even more underrated than the regular ones.
thanks judge anon
How do we get this board to drop the printed super Jew and read the Dredd instead?

Is there a recommended reading list for Dredd?

Saw this a couple of days ago, the Rebellion guys who bought out 2000AD seem to be a really solid bunch, we got lucky here

Started reading Strontium Dog today, decided to go from #1 and read on but I'm wondering if there's some recommended stories as this is a pretty lengthly series and I might want to check out some highlights before I dive into the whole thing.
Do we get learn how Taco Bell won the Franchise War?
>>90057713
Sure, it's pretty much everything. The Complete Case Files collect all of his stories and are pretty easy to find. That said, the early stuff can be a bit cheesy and corny sometimes, so feel free to skip to either volumes 4-5 or The Pit if you'd like something more modern.
>>90059506
I'd say go through the whole thing, but off the top of my head, "Journey into Hell", "Portrait of a Mutant" and "The Big Bust of '49" are damn worth picking up.
>>90059506
Volumes 1 and 2 are noticeably written for a younger audience, still good mind, but the best shit shows up in volumes 3-5 and then some of the other recent stuff like Blood Moon is great.
Honestly the only stuff that is 100% straight up garbage, is the Life and Death of Johnny Alpha saga. Seriously fuck that story line, its in the same tier as One More Day is for spiderman.
As for highlights, i can only recommend 'Bitch', its a long one, but one of the only long ones not to be full of spoilery stuff. Its the first story in the fourth book, shouldn't be hard to track down
>>90059565
I thought that happened in Demolition Man
>>90051999
Is Dredd worth starting from the beginning? I recently started reading comics but I've mostly been avoiding really long running stuff on the basis that A: long running things almost always go really far up their own ass and I assume this holds true to comics, and B: more reasonably sized stuff means I can read it and move on. Like right now I'm reading the Spire which is short as fuck, then after that I'll probably either do Saga or the Incal.

They pretty much saved the comic back in 2000
>>90059809
>I thought that happened in Demolition Man
That's the joke.

>Arthur Koestler block

I do not understand why people like this character.
Even if I was willing to overlook how stupid that costume is, every Dredd story I have ever read seemed like the exact same shit every time.
What is the appeal in this character?
>>90060299
You've gotta be a decent human being to get it
>>90060390
To get what, anon-dono?Not the same anon, but every Dredd fan I've come across with, acts like is the best thing ever, all the time.
>>90060299
>Stupid costume
What's stupid about it. It's a classic.
>>90060299
its god good world building, explores intresting concepts, has some great artists and some memorable characters and good time progression.
Problem is, theres only really two writers capable of doing goat dredd stories, theres a few other good writers mind, but none in the same league as grant or wagner.
And then at the end of the day its just subjective taste. Some like it for the reasons i listed, others like it for the satire or ultra violence.
Honestly i would say a lot of the Judge Anderson stuff is better then a lot of dredd has been since 2000. Barring the Wagner stuff of course.
