This is one of the major reasons the ST era feels like it has no connection to the previous two eras, while the OT and PT at least tried to link up after the fact. One of Anakins boyhood rivals was a Rodian. One of the jedi on the council was a Twi'lek. There was a bunch of new shit, but at least there was old shit to balance it out. You can see how one becomes the other.

J.J. and company gave that idea a middle finger. Instead of Ithorians you get something that's mostly similar but with big fish lips and a beard. Instead of a sith lord you get a Knight of Ren, but the actual distinction between the two means fuck all even more than a year later.

Shit it's not even just J.J., Rebels plays the same shitty card where there was an old sith lady at Malachor but it's not Darth Traya for unspecified reasons. Wedge gets a rival in a striped TIE interceptor but it's not Fel, it's someone else who gets no development to compare. Wendig even made a totally original imperial admiral who was super into music and called it a day.

Overall it is a good scene. The only part that is bad is when the characters are just twirling the lightsabers around for no reason. That particular motion just looks terrible because what is shows is that the characters arnt even trying to fight each other, if your aim is so far off your opponent doesnt even need to react to you for you to miss then you are wasting your energy.

The part before and after that (particullarly when they both go to use force push at the exact same time) is just fine or great, the like 2 second twirl at :05 - :07 looks terrible. Remove that and its a great scene

I always hated that in films/movies dealing with honor duels. Its one thing if the two characters I just fighting, when the goal is more to show who is more powerful (Luke defeating Vader but refusing to kill him in anger, Vader clearly showing he yields to Luke by his almost "please leave me be" hand motion)

He wasn't hunting Sabine earlier this season, he was responding to a probe droid's signal when it found trespassers in the Protectors' camp. He was, in actuality, looking for Fenn Rau. The guy he freaked out about when he saw him this episode. Sabine was just an unexpected target of opportunity and he chased her when he was already there.

We've known Mandalore was representative of a lot of non-Republic worlds since TCW, but I always took that to mean client worlds that looked to Mandalore to represent them because of Mandalore's status and history, not because Mandalore had acquired control over them through conquest and these worlds are basically provinces to a Mandalorian empire. It's actually kind of a neat change of perspective, for me at least.
