ITT: We predict the score and Critic's Consesus of Logan
>>
>>89980443
Middling, maybe sixty-some percent.
>>
>>89980443
Higher than DCEU average. lower than MCU average.
>>
>>89980443
Maybe 85%
>>

audience will probably be quite high because it's basically for the Jackman fans and he like totes stabs a dude and shit Wolverine is so cool yo

Critics: 28% (give-or-take 5%)

have any critics seen the movie yet? I have really high hopes for it

my guess: 85% and a lot of fawning over the child actress
>>
Early word of month is very positive. 87%.
>>
70-75

I'm hopeful that since this Huge Jackedman's and Sir PS's sendoff it will be hailed as a masterpiece of cinema and what not but while I am optimistic, I remain grounded in reality.
>>
>>89982479
Some critics on twitter have seen it and implied it's good. There is still an embargo on the reviews tho.
>>
>>89980443
90.9% pure kino
>>
>>89982479
Yes. The more conversative ones imply it's a good send-off and the best standalone Wolverine movie. The more overager ones are implying it's a masterpiece, a game-changer and that Patrick Stewart could even score awards nods had it come out during awards season.
>>
>>89980443
Expectation: 65 to 79%, some critics think it's too darker, and imply Deadpool is the way to go

Hopes: 80-90%, surprises everyone and creates a new path for comic book movies in general.

Nightmares: 40-59%, they bash it on the same mistakes Moon Knight vs Hyperion: Twilight of Despair did, or plenty of people get dissapointed at the excess of jokes/fun stuff.
>>
>RT SCORE
56% not disney enough

>real score
8/10 film
>>
>>89982398
This is about right. Description: "Logan was a grim, dark take on a beloved character once again showing superheroes should never be taken seriously."
>>
Better than BvS because 'muh marvel' but worse than the MCU because it's a superhero movie that tries to be something other than quippy and light
>>
Less than 25 because it's not "MUH MCU" and not "MUH FUN"
>>
>>89984092
This

No one would ever rate a superhero movie highly if it didn't have some brightly colored protagonist fighting some B-list baddie of the year while setting up the next big movie.
>>
This movie is objectively going to be better crafted than anything in the MCU, but it'll score lower than literally every one of them. Why is that?
>>
The MCU was a plight on cinema
>>
76%.Reviews are something about Jackman and Stewart giving stellar final performances, but that can't save middling dialogue and an incoherent narrative. Everyone writes their "superhero fatigue" article again.
>>
>>89984241
Because critics these days look a the MCU as a benchmark for Superhero movies and think that's how they should be made.

The story will be good because its got a solid base.

Effects not so much though. Fox for the most part has garbage wire work and the trailers show they are still pretty shit.

It'll be a great road movie for sure. But don't for for the action scenes.
>>
>>89984331
Then they go on to hype set pics of Infinity War XD
>>
>>89984458
There isn't a single well directed fight scene in the MCU though. Fights are either shaky cam garbage (I'm looking at you winter soldier) or literally interrupted with quips every 5-10 seconds.

I am a little worried about the whole post-apocalyptic road movie thing. Why is there a well-stocked convenience store in a desert wasteland? It's a great scene to have in a road movie but doesn't make a ton of sense in the overall context. I hope little things like that don't crop up often and mess with the tone.

>>
>>89984495
It's like Jackie Chan said: the actors can't fight. Worse, the directors are too Jewish to teach them how. But the critics won't point this out because they're in cahoots, especially since it would show that their competition is better.
>>
>>89984495
And Fox isn't any better and a little worse. That's just a factor.

I don't even like BvS or Snyder, by the way

I just want you to know I'm takin proper screenshots so that when the movie comes out- someone's getting called a faggot.

It's disjointed as fuck while also having lots of boring, meandering scenes. The core concept of the trinity losing faith in humanity was great, but execution was shit.
>>
>>89984852
Sometimes I feel how painful some of those punches are.
You know, I kind of miss this about fights in action movies. They may be flashy and quicky, but I don't remember any fight that isn't from Raid 1/2 in the last few years that made me want to curl in a ball because of how painful it looked.

Why are millennials so obsessed with RT?
>>
>>89984895
I still think that the part where Superman starts regaining his powers and Batman's punches start making different noises is one of the best ever scenes in history.
>>
>>89984816
All of their guns get disabled at the beginning by Batman except for like 1 or 2.
>>
>>89984895
Batman swinging Superman around the room by his foot was a little ridiculous, but I liked the fight otherwise. It was nice seeing a real preptime Batman in live action.

Great performance all around. Breakout star in Laura's actress. Touching sendoff to nearly 2 decades of Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart.

This seems to be about right for Logan too. Fox hasn't exactly strayed from franchise formula with their comic book films, with one or two really unfortunate exceptions, all of their X-Franchise stuff is about the same level of meh.
>>
>>89985544
It kind of reminded me of the "dude you took it too far" vibe from the Iliad when Achilles wrecks Hector's body. A lot of that fight felt painful and it would surprise me if anyone was actually rooting for Batman at that point.

But yeah the beginning of the fight was amazing. Gotta love prep time.
>>
>>89985447
/tv/ needs reasons to shitpost. RT provides. And provides and provides.

Yeah but places like reddit, imdb, etc. are equally obsessed. No one can form their own opinions, they just see a pretty number and go from there, not even bother to read the actual reviews.

In general a lot of action in all forms are missing the feeling of impact. Sometimes too flashy leads to everything feeling shallow and brief. Old Jackie Chan movies are an example of being flashy, while also keeping that feeling of impact.

>Face it, we live in a post-MCU nightmare world.

You people are taking the reaction to the DCEU like its somehow an indication to all art for the forseeable future. It's absurdly egotistical.

>Clearly the reaction to BvS is an indication that the ENTIRE CRITICAL COMMUNITY has shifted on its axis at once instead of maybe BvS just being a bad movie, because lord knows the reaction to MUH KINO has to be predicated on hundreds of people around the world just changing on a dime due to the MCU
>>
>>89990817
Yeah, it's really cute how these people happened to forget that there was a highly acclaimed non-MCU comic book adaptation ONE MONTH BEFORE BVS.
The idea of a large group of peoples' opinions on an entire genre changing drastically in such a short time span is absurd.

Only good fight on BvS was the warehouse fight. Batman against Superman was boring as funk, short, and incredibly anticlimactic. I never see anyone even talking about it.
>>
serious film critics - 6-7/10, marginally better than the average superhero schlock
general pop culture film reviewers - 2-4/10, 'why did they make a movie about old men?'
'nerd'/'geek culture' outlets - 11/10 gods gift to man
