They went out of their way avoiding saying her human name while we did get Tiger Claw's name Takeshi. I hope a later episode reveals it's Umeko just to complete this version being a hybrid of Ninjara and Alopex with a human thrown into the mix.

This I think is the core of the problem, but she's had issues with defining a character since her debut and the Raph and Alopex shipping is...really, really poorly written. She's just kinda ping ponged between being a hero or villain, and they built up this Kitsune mind control thing for years then immediately dropped it after something like 1 or 2 issues when it actually happened.

That said, i've been totally on board with seeing Alopex, Angel, and Harold actually do shit and develop as a dynamic when they showed that forming, but they never did anything with it. An upcoming TMNT Universe two parter will have Angel and Alopex be dragged into something on their own so maybe something will happen there.

I think the circus she felt more comfortable doing. Maybe she didn't realize what her brother was getting her into with the criminal world. But since she didn't have anyone else to look out for her she had to go along with it.

Both stories are different and confusing so maybe other episodes will explain it better.

The show suffers alot from this schism of wanting to be driven by an arching plot but still keep it episodic. In the end effect you have these plots where they must hurry to do nothing.

The comic version is an arctic fox. The Alopex in the cartoon was made a regular red fox for some reason. This is made worse given the name Alopex comes from the old taxonomic synonym for arctic foxes.
