It is going to be extremely bitter-sweet for a number of reasons depending on which route they go.

Let's say he does get to go back to the past...

When exactly? This is the problem with Aku.

And if he stays in the present (to him), he cannot undo any of the evils that Aku has unleashed upon the world.

At the end of the day, I believe that Samurai Jack is going to demonstrate that evil cannot be undone, only mitigated. And that even to accomplish this, will require great self-sacrifice and selflessness.
