I said across all mediums. The primary focus at the moment regarding the Force seems to be everything inbetween the light and dark, even if it's not readily obvious. Bendu, the Guardians of the Whills, the Church of the Force and so on. All of these see the Force through the senses it enhances as opposed to light or dark. There are obviously going to be groups loosely affiliated with the big two sects, but they're far enough removed as to not actually be one or the other. They're not as high profile but they do have their place, and that seems to be what the LSG means to explore with this new initiative. We know about the Jedi and the Sith. Time for everything inbetween. The EU only ever focused on expanding with no real strategy towards the overall lore or saga.

Just make her a no-nonsense Heavy bulldozing her way through the action scenes of the plot. She doesn't need to accomplish anything meaningful at all, just be a visible threat to the heroes, being competent enough to survive their actions against the First Order and intimidating enough to put them on the defensive or on the run at least a couple of times. As Kylo or Hux's henchwoman, its her job to be the Nappa to their Vegeta. She serves them, so her victories are their victories, and anything she gets done bleeds into their own reputation and eventual scenes later in the movie.

What made a lot of the other creatures work was that there was a sense of internal logic to them. The artists usually tried to design them in a way that made sense and made it seem like this could be an actual animal from another world.

Rathtars are just... a blob with tentacles. You could argue it's more alien but only because it doesn't feel like it anyone bothered to think about it as a creature and just slapped a bunch of parts together.
