Mainly because French people can get similar shit in a lot of other comics, while American comics are notoriously repressed and puritanical

Man it got so ridiculously expensive and the content lost a lot of quality. Mostly I think because the artists had an easier time publishing on the net.

I had a subscription last year, and every story was deviantart-tier and boring as fuck, or a glorified preview. Morrison's first issue had some incomprehensible schlock with le-epic meme faces. As a showcase of alternative talent, it fails, and it doesn't make sense as a porn comic when you can find that on the internet for free.

I've been on a real kick of weird non-big2 sci-fi lately, so I've bought every issue of Morrison's tenure, figuring it'd be a good jumping on point.

I've never read Heavy Metal before then, but I have noticed less sex than it usually has, also the themed issues are a little weird, especiallly since how they tie to the actual stories is often tenuous at best, like when Morrison put the second part of his alien story in the sex issue because it was about dividing cells or something.
