Honestly I'm also really against the idea of them fusing. I liked Superbro. I can see and understand the criticisms against him but I feel you actually got to see him grow as a character and go from a kid who's heart was in the right place but was still a young kid to a proper Superman. Near the end he felt like a developed character. Hell Superbro has had some of the greatest superman moments to me. Him being fused and ultimately being just a portion of the new old Superman undermines his journey as a character. Eh it was that weird 5th dimensional magic at the end of Morrison's run. Was being set up for him to save his folks from a car crash but he chose to save a mars colony that had been killed through the story to get to him. Always struck me as the most selfless and Superman like action I've seen in anything.

And I mean if the writers don't let him get away with anything. Like there's 2 doomsday or some shit and one's going to rip apart metropolis and everyone in it and the other is hunting down his wife and child at their house. No other hero intervention. No last minute rescues. He has to choose the city or his family. What would Superman do? Now we'll never see this kind of situation but it's interesting to think about.
