I do remember a few people commenting on social media to people on the crew that they were disappointed in some things, and I think there were a few people involved with the show who made very brief posts on Reddit or /co/ when people were bitching.

What I'm specifically thinking of was someone saying that Ludo was too generic and a crew member responding they'd be doing something with him later on (at this point I'm not sure if they knew they'd been renewed and already had Ludo in the Wild in mind, or if they were referring to him kind of being a red herring in the first season). It was officially announced to be renewed in February 2015 and premiered officially in March, but the first episode aired as an official "preview" in January 2015 and those comments were made then.

What I'm not sure about is whether we only learned about that renewal in February, or if the crew learned about it then too.
