Tracy got a Patreon and quit her day job to focus on the comic and many, many reward drawings every month. There have been some delays to the start of the third volume as she's also working on a bunch of stuff like a card game and other merch. But she's theoretically back to working more on the comic itself. So there may be more theads as a result.

The ones for the last page she posted might still be in the archive if you search for it.

basically this. lackadaisy doesn't have controversial or pandering content. It's not particularly sexual, it doesn't use anime tropes, and the art is god-tier. there's really nothing to troll about it. You could show up and say that the art is bad, but it clearly isn't so not many people would fall for it. also butler doesn't sit on twitter all day and lord her ego all over or pick fights with fans at cons, so there's no drama.

Well it means success in a lot of different fields. You produce decent quality content regularly? That's a good start, but if you update 3+ times a week, add some pandering and/or shipping and you got you'll get yourself an audience eager to read the latest piece. Things get a bit rabid after that as memes, shipping and intense analysis gain momentum, as is so common with many webcomics these days. Just look at the catalog!

But because Lackadaisy updates much less frequently it misses out on all that. It feels like an older, traditional story told through beautiful anthropomorphic artwork, so it doesn't feel like it's pandering to furies, and is ultimately very similar to Blacksad in that it's a cool comic with style and substance galore.

I know there were rumblings about this previously. I think her publisher was really pushing to get something going, but that was back when Tracy was a full time game developer, and I don't think they ever got the deal they wanted. I heard from a women who works at the publishing company that it got shopped around studios a few year back and they all wanted to either make it kiddie, with a catnip bar and water guns, or just make low-budget 3D indie using the same animation style as the old, old Clone Wars cgi movie from years ago. Both Tracy and her publisher gave those a hard pass.

It's not like it's expensive. You can get most, if not all, of the art uploads at the $2/mo. level. That's what I do. Maybe I'll splurge once I get my student loans paid off. But for now Tracy remains the only person I give money to on Patreon.

Well, the thing is, Tracy is suck a purist, I think she would have a hard time doing anything but period accurate music. I feel like to some degree that is a bit limiting. Maybe is the music played by the characters was period accurate, but the overarching sound track had a more modern-take-on-1920's music as its deal, she might go for it.

I'm a bit ignorant when it comes to music. I don't know much beyond "this sounds jazzy" and "this is big band swing music" and "this is cute and catchy" so I figure it might fit a cartoony 1920s setting with speak easies and tommy guns.

Of course, music and styles accurate to that era would be great, as long as it pops. But yeah, a more modern take with a little creative wiggle room might be nice too.

I think the importance of a good soundtrack can't be overstated. Making the purist approach work would be great if it worked, but using it as no more than a prop no matter what seems like a gamble.

I agree with what you said earlier: in scenes where the characters are actually playing or hearing the music, sure, be super accurate. But for the sake of the audience, perhaps vary it up while still sticking with the general style. That way you can have a bit more variety for a greater variety of scenes, and have catchy theme songs unique to the production.

It wasn't great, but it was still pretty neat.
For some reason, I would actually prefer some quality VAs record voices and sfx for the comic to be played alongside it than actually get an animated version.
I think I just love her art so much I prefer it over animation, which is just impressive to me.

Lackadaisy is great but I wish it went more into romantic things. We get a touch of that with Mitzi/Zib and Mitzi/Wick and I guess we can "kind" of counter some cutesy moments with Calvin/Ivy and Rocky/Ivy.

I think if there was more romantic/sexual attributes to it without actually having to reduce to porny stuff it'd really rile up more interest. Not that the story needs it, but y'know it wouldn't hurt. Plus the sleezing around would fit perfectly in this crime-esque-drama-noir.

That being said - let's see. Mitzi killed her husband Atlas or had a hit on him, maybe she got Zib to do it since he still has feelings for her. I think the story will end with a huge police-bust/shoot out leaving some characters dead or hurt. Mitzi may end up in prison or escaping - I think Zib having to testify for or against her could come up. A Calvin and Moredecai show-down would be great - probably ending with some epligoue during-post Great Depression with how the characters moved on. Also the big revelation about what happened to Atlas and the Lackadaisy speakeasy.

In short, it will be bittersweet and probably artsy.. Im not really sure how much more of the "story" is left to tell but an all out gang-war is imminent.
