It's been a while since I looked at the interview, but I'm pretty sure it's Trueheart who says that on the DVD.

Looking through what they have now, this is way too dialougue heavy. There is no flow. I mean, it's as if they were required to constantly have a character talk in every panel. Well, it's clear that Gaz is Membrane's favorite if only because she's not insane.
However, Membrane does push Dib more into science than he does with Gaz, so it's kinda hard to pick which kid he has higher expectations for.
What's clear is that he loves his children more than what a lot of people think. I mean, he deprived the world of a limitless powersource because he wanted his children to be present for the demonstration and because the public couldn't hold the same amount of patience he just told them to fuck off and kept dismantled the whole installation.

This is a very good write up on the ship.
Both Zim and Gaz are highly ambitious and competitive people who hate to lose and will go to extreme, crazy lengths to succeed their goals when motivated enough. (Though Gaz is more successful)

Zim hasn't done anything directly to Gaz in the series and there isn't much interaction between them in the show, so we are not 100% sure how the will act together for long periods of times or a confrontation between them. But they were going to time up at least two times in future unfinished episodes. Also even by whatever miracle they get together, they are both not the type to act affectionately towards each other, or not behind closed doors.
