Yeah... to be fair, Steven has been this bright happy star in Lapis' life, pretty much the *only* human who consistently tries to help her and hold her interests up as something to fix/aid. Peridot..is certainty trying to help accommodate/befriend her, too, don't get me wrong, but aside from cursory interactions with Greg and the rough introduction with Andy, Lapis doesn't interact with any other humans.

Given that she was also Malachite for god knows how long before she was freed, her depression/apathy spell and trying to adjust to her new life, it's not too surprising she didn't remember Connie. Gems, by default, don't know how to react to humans or understand their behaviors, and Lapis emulating Amethyst and trying to behave the way she did was just her giving things a shot. The more she tries, the better she'll get because by this point it's really doubtful that she'll become a villain again.

Lapis is frustrating and spoils episodes she's in because she gets away with shit no other character would for seemingly no reasons. Suddenly people's ability to be upset or want things just disappears. The show never even acknowledges Lapis did anything wrong or dismisses it with deadpan snarking.
